Credit to Hoyte he probably had his best game for us looked very solid and also attacked well including perhaps our best effort of his shin weekly to the keeper which unfortunately sums up our paucity for attacking.

never thought I'd see the day Hoyte had a positive thread, lets hope this is the start of something good for him!

played well - and it wasn't just that everyone else played badly although that did help to make his contribution stand out

Fantastic stuff, one great game against an injury ravaged side. Hoyte has been pants for the time he has been here and can't defend. I think he might be better in midfield if we keep him.

Has shown glimpses of what he can potentially be in his last few games. Played very well yesterday. Looked very comfortable on the ball and used it well. I reckon he could do a Navarro and come good in time..

Proved to be an able deputy to Calderon and it should also be noted that he played in the same manner as Calderon, which is obviously Poyets way. This goes to aid my view that Poyet will probably buy him from Arsenal or at least loan him for another season.

Lady sitting in front of me at MK Dons yesterday said that Gavin and Justin Hoyte's mother is Joselyn Hoyte- Smith ex athlete. Is this true? Looked on wikipedia and it doesnt say anything.

Correct. She was at Southend in the away end. Quite possibly there yesterday too.

Perhaps Gus's comments earlier this week probably gave Gavin the little bit of confidence he had been lacking.
