Have we seen the last of Gary Hart ?

I think we probably have. In the past he has shown signs of being a better player but it never came about. On a few occasions when he was not closed down by the opposition he looked look but that was years ago now.

With a nearly a 17 year old youngster on the bench, will he be looking to go elsewhere?

I'm in two minds. Cause I like the player, I hope he gets a decent club and also I would not mind him staying, although it might mean improving his game?

Harty symbolises for me the rebuilding of the club. He has travelled with us from the depths of Gillingham and the bottom of division three to Withdean, successive promotions, multiple managers, that day at Cardiff etc.

Personally I feel that he still has a lot to offer, but in any case I would love to see him make it to a testimonial for the sheer effort and passion he has shown throughout his career with us.

I don't think he's finished for us at all. He is still travelling with the 1st team - he was sat in the stand to our left, with Nathan Jones at Forest. That suggests that MM wants him in and around the squad, so that means he very much has a part to play.

We simply do not have the squad or resources to let a good hard working pro like Gary disappear from the scene. I think MM will bring him back in a few weeks when he feel Hammond needs a rest and we'll see what he has got.

From playing at the Millennium Stadium to not even making the bench against Sheffield United, would make me do some thinking. I think he should be in the first team squad, on the substitutes bench if he does not make the first team.

I think I need to see my doctor because I find myself agreeing with Hello Horton on this one.

We keep hearing about how thin our squad is, how we have a makeshift striker/midfield/defence, etc., but OGH can't even make the sub's bench? I ask you-would the OGH of old have been a better option than Albert J on Saturday? I'm not putting either player down-just trying to understand where OGH fits in with the current set-up... personally, I don't think he does anymore. He's been with us through some shit times whilst earning his living playing football rather than fork lift driving so we've all benefitted but I think he's going to struggle to win his place back-sadly.

Hope he proves a lot of us wrong!

I thought Jonah was finished and he made his way back on the bench yesterday so you never know.

Don't like Jonah's Ravenelli style hair cut, however !

There could be injuries and suspensions yet to come. We need a squad so there is definitely a place for him.

Kezza was out for ages but very much needed on Saturday and apart from a couple of times when he lacked pace, did a very good job.

OGH will be the same.

I've always thought Gary Hart would make a fantastic attacking full back (as he filled in that position at Reading a couple of seasons ago and looked superb) so was surprised to see Reid (who did a good job) in that position.

Reading what he says in his sports Argus column, I think he is very down about not being in the squad and is possibly thinking about leaving, which will be very very sad as he still has great ability.

Gary Harts performance when he came off the bench against Swindon in the play offs was awesome and the pressure he helped us put on them helped us to that last minute wonder goal.

The bloke is a legend and Im sure he could have a part to play this season, would be very sad to see him go.

Not sure MM really knows how to use a squad.
Probably used to only having a bare 12 or 13 decent players.
Anybody playing a bloody center half up front when he has several experienced attacking players is mad!!
Virgs has done well, but its a ridiculous (not to mention embarrasing) situation to be in; the rest of the football world must think we have no other strikers at the club!
Hart has played a good deal of his early career up front, was our top scorer a few seasons back and is willing to run himself into the ground for this club.
For him not to be (at least) on the bench when people like Jarret are, is, quite simply unbelievable.
We aren't scoring any goals (not enough anyway) Harty knows where the goal is.
Just a final thought, what chance has Leon got of building up an attacking relationship with anybody if MM insisits on playing Virgo up front. He won't be there all season, so what happens then.
Did he sign Molango for a joke.
3 year contract Mark, play the man!!

OGH is not a target man. He could do a job in the place of Knight, as long as we were not expecting goals.

He played up front in a poor Division Three, and was hardly prolific (albeit with poor service).

He has been a great servant to the club and may still have a bit-part to play. I think MM knows what he is doing.

i have to agree with some of tony's comments, not sure why molango does not even make the bench what was the point of a three year contract? i understand he has to adjust with english football etc etc however this doesn't make sense to me. i also have to agree that although we are winning and drawing which is all good, we are not scoring enough goals, i like mcghee i really do but i don't think he has enough oommmph sometimes he would rather sit back and defend all the time which is fine but its nice to watch us going forward sometimes esp when we now have defence problems.

i was very disappointed that gary hart didn't make the bench sat and no he is not a striker however he could possibly play behind and he runs with the ball which is what we need, i don't think he will stay if he is continually left out of the squad. i was however pleased that jarrett got a run out on sat and i thought he had two good runs in the time he was on

Yeah, and I bet the rest of the division are quite pleased with what he is doing too. Especially the defenders. Their job is easy at the moment, we've got an off-form Leon Knight and a defender up front (we didn't manage a shot in the second half on Saturday). With the greatest will in the world Virgo will never be a striker. He doesn't have the skill, speed or positional sense required to be a center forward. Its not his fault, he is a defender, that's where his experience lies. Hart is an attacking player (who mentioned target man, we don't have a target man at the club) he will score goals, but more importantly if MM will not play Robinson, McPhee or Molango, Hart knows how to play defenders, Virgo doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't just barge into people for 90 minutes in this division - its crap! We need a bit of qulaity up front to help Knight. I'm not necessarily saying that hart should be that man, but we have got strikers at this club, so bloody-well play them Mark, and strengthen the defense with Virgo.
Anyone running a book on who will be playing at right back against Crewe - I fancy Kuipers at 50-1!!

The point of the three year contract is he has potential, he is one for the future.

He is not ready to play first team football at this level. He probably would benefit from being loaned out to a division three team.

There is no point in signing him for a year, spending scarce resources coaching him, only for him to leave at the end of it to someone elses benefit.

i understand that however with the shortage of strikers we have perhaps this should be a priority rather than him not getting any games whatsoever

Molango is good enough for the First Team.
He looked sharp at Reading; just lacked a bit of confidence.
Bet he's got loads of that now (well done Mark)
He's not a kid you know (he nearly 22) Michael owen was a household name by the time he was 20.
MM needs to get players like Molango and Robinson in the team, get them playing, and give them the confidence to move forward.
reserve team football (especially the shite opposition we play at that level) is not good preparation for the Championship.

If Mark McGhee thinks Adam Virgo will do a better job up front than JR or MM then I am prepared to accept his opinion as better than mine.

After all, he does see these players in training each day.

He has already said that JR, LK and MM are the same type of player. We need a target man alongside them, someone like Chris McPhee - who clearly isn't yet ready for 90 minutes.

If he really didn't think it necessary to play Virgo up front, he would have moved him back to defence in our current injury situation and not resorted to playing a full back at centre back and two central midfielders at right back.
