I think Poyet was probably offered a good will payment, maybe 3 months pay worth £300k or something, to go, and he had a time limit to accept and leave on good terms, or be fired at such and such a time. If he was trying to negotiate more and thought he had all the time in the world, that would have been Poyets mistake.
