gaddafi wants to buy palace

The guardian first edition tomorrow claims on its front page that Col Gadaffi (sp?) wants to buy Crystal Palace as a way of improving relations with Britain. It's on their front page, not in the sports pages

Makes perfect sense. You've already got 30 camels around the place - he'll feel right at home.

How will that help?

Everyone will still hate him. :D

I was thinking exactly the same thing. In fact it will make most people hate him even more :lolol:

Fantastic - huge great picture of Gaddafi on front page linking him to Palace :lolol: Surely even Looney admits the Grauniad has done good here

No way can Jordan let that happen. Gaddaffi was one of the most evil men on the planet who had no hesitation in harbouring murderers in his country.

Coould this be a way of him being able to launder his millions legally?

I like the comment about "unfashionable Crystal Palace" and "ramshackle Selhurst Park". Marvellous scenes! This is a fantastic story, couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of supporters!

Palace chief Jordan would welcome Gaddafi takeover

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan would consider a takeover bid from Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Although no formal approach for the newly-promoted Premiership side has been made by the Libyan Arab Foreign Investment Company (LAFICO) - the government body Gaddafi used to buy a stake in Juventus - Jordan has been made aware of his interest.

He told the Guardian: "I have been told that Gaddafi and his son [Al-Saadi] are interested in acquiring Palace...if they did, I would consider it."

Jordan did not believe that either FA or Premier League rules would prevent any move from LAFICO, but did accept that it would be controversial.

He added: "At the end of the day, many people might see Roman Abramovich's involvement at Chelsea as less than palatable, but he is moving the club forward.

"If Gaddafi's money was able to progress Palace and allow them to compete at the top of the tree and be a successful football club, then one would have to take that into consideration.''

Jordan is looking for a way out of the game after seeing Palace promoted in May, an achievement which means the club is financially stable after years of struggling in the Football League.

The 36-year-old millionaire said: "I have achieved what I set out to do. I don't enjoy football any more.''

I wonder whether this will really happen or fizzle out like the Thai interest in Liverpool?

I also question how Brighton supporters (especially those who want millions invested in the club) would react if it were us?

What pees me off is the fact that we never see the words "millionaire/billionaire wishes to invest in..." in the same paragraph as the words "Brighton and Hove Albion"......

In Archer and Stanley we had two directors who are worth over a billion, and look where that got us

Personally I would feel as though I had sold my soul to the devil if Gaddafi took over Brighton.

I can remember the horror of Lockerbie so clearly.
