Sorry to be an ignorant student here but is there a real chance of all this kicking off then? i know these summits often bring violence and with it a load of greasy clowns who like to get involved but how serious could next week be??

" Well they NEARLY did. They were only saved from one helluva beating by a quick thinking security guard who reversed the direction of the 'up' escalator "

We found one in our booth all suited up but no security pass and smelt like shit...the beating started on the exchange floor through the turnstiles ,along the attrium then he ran into the couple of riot police who had come in .They gave him a slap and threw him down the escalator !.

Mind you seeing the pictures of the damage they had done afterwards wasn't funny.

It wouldn't be the first time one of these summits has been greeted by hordes of people trashing the local environs (remember Winston Churchill's green mohican?). Put it this way, the Met police have cancelled all leave, while I'm betting you won't find many branches of Starbucks or McDonalds open in the main areas next week.

Google G20, and you'll find hundreds of sites about planned protests or marches, from environmentalists, anti-capitalists, anti-war groups, the No Borders and SmashEDO types, would-be revolutionaries, religious groups like the Muslim Council of Great Britain, trade unionists, disgruntled bank customers who've lost out to perceived greed of the big companies, the recently unemployed, crusties, hippies, professional rent-a-protestors, a sprinkling of anarchists, and those merely interested in smashing the city of London to pieces if the opportunity arises.

I've just had a couple of rest days next week cancelled, and I don't even work in London

remember watching a docu' about when it all kicked off cpl of years back and some crusties were giving it large and smashing windows etc, think at canary wharf. 2/3 lads who would not have looked out of place at the front of a footy mob took a stand and one of them said 'come on then you pond life scum, all of you and us, lets have it now'

crusties melted and f***ed off.......hilarious tv:lol:
