Furlong sending off

Just gone frame by frame a few times from the sky sports footage.

Can't see if Hinsh was holding him (just out of shot), but Furlong turns round to the referee to appeal for a foul.

Hinsh passes him and Furlong kicks Hinsh in the back of the leg.

(Side footed - almost like a golf swing!)

Very quick, but well spotted by the referee.

Straight red though ?

It seemed pretty clear to me in the lower tier.

Desrved yellow card and he had one already.

And apparently he's now out for 4 games after picking up a suspension for the yellow.

MM is quoted in one of today's papers as saying:

"I would not expect any of my players to go to ground unless there was solid contact. When I was a player you had to be unconscious before you went down, and I've tried to get my team to play in this way."

Well there you go then. Leon is just misunderstood.

Actually, for those of us who saw what Clark Carlisle did to Leon in last season's 'who gives a toss' Cup match what happened to Furlong can best be described as poetic justice.

Very true. If they take back Leon's booking for 'diving' I'll forget the whole incident...

I think there may have been some afters between Furlong and Hinsh following the Reserve Cup game at Woodside Road last season. In that game Virgo, Hinsh and Harding gave Furlong a torrid time all match and he didn't like it one bit. It culminated in a proper punch up that saw Furlong, his co-striker and Virgo sent off. I was by the changing rooms when they came off and Furlong had some choice language to describe our defenders. He then had the cheek to pose around in just his jockstrap banging his boots together infront of my girlfriend, which she didn't seem to mind too much. Good old Virgo had the best line though with "I'm gonna get a f***ing fine now and I didn't even get a decent punch in".

Wish I had been at that game Hungry Joe (not to see Furlong parading around wearing very little you must understand) it sounded like a right belter.

Best game I ever saw at Woodside Road was a game between Worthing and Bognor when an on loan Will Packham pushed an opponent who had just scored past him into the back of the net, there was a right melee afterwards and he just ended up with a yellow.

It was a cracking game for comedy value. David Lee scored the only goal and the QPR boys got in a right strop after being shut out and roughed-up all match. I went with my girlfriend and Mum and Dad and the ladies loved the mix of violence, bad language (a lot of it coming from my Mum) and semi-nakedness.

As part of the bigger picture I think it was an important game for Hinsh, Virgo and Harding as all three of them had a great game against a good QPR side (on paper they should have stuffed us) at a time when they weren't featuring much in the first team squad. Shortly afterwards all three of them were back in the squad. For Virgo in particular I think it was important as it must have been a real low point for him after being shut-out by Coppel and wondering if he had a future at Brighton. The change in fortunes for him since has been amazing.

Saw the incident on The Championship and it looked a clear trip but not really a kick, did he deserve to go ?

Yes ! It's because I consider QPR fans to be the biggest wankers in this league by a country mile. They've done nothing but slag off Leon (based of the real fact that he came here and not there) and ALL of them say it wasn't even a foul.

It looked a deserved yellow though, and if he had one already, he has to walk.

Furlong got a straight red. Saw it on the telly last night and still couldn't see whatever D'Urso saw.

Very frustrating when that happens yet the midget gets away with diving (again) and kicking the ball away without a word from the ref, when they're both yellow card offences.

As for the stick he gets, it's not because he signed for you rather than us, but because he badmouthed us at the time. Deemed bad enough to post it on the changing room wall the next time you came to LR.

If Leon bad mouthed QPR then he goes higher in my esteem. Fact is many fans of other clubs described your fans as nothing but a bunch of gobby cockeys. A small club that thinks it's a big club.

QPR are a small club end of,

I'm sure I could find fans of other clubs that say the same thing about you lot. Of course we've got mouthy gobshite fans ... haven't you? Trying to tell me you haven't got fans that think you're bigger than you actually are?

I don't think we're a big club. I like the fact we're not, that we've got a compact ground where you're close to the pitch, I like the fact we've got a chairman who's very approachable, who will talk to people in public, who will express his views on the messageboards, tell it as it is.

Yes we do but not in the numbers you have. Just about every away game I went to last season fans would say the same thing about QPR.

I canb assure you that apart from a Leon sizedl handful of deluded fas we are all to aware of where we sit currently in the grand scheme of things. However, in days gone by I.E. The Goldstone we always got bigger crowds than QPR apart from when you were in the old Division One and we were in the second. We're not a big club but because you had a couple of good seasons in Division One a lot of your fans do think that.
