Brighton assistant manager Bob Booker has dismissed reports linking Portsmouth goalkeeper Shaka Hislop with a move to the Withdean Stadium.

Hislop is out of favour with Pompey boss Velimir Zajec following the arrival of Greek shot-stopper Kostas Chalkias from Panathinaikos and the improving form of rookie 'keeper Jamie Ashdown.

Brooker insists they have not been looking at Hislop as they already have four goalkeepers in the squad - Michel Kuipers, Ben Roberts, Chris May and Blackburn loan signing David Yelldell.

"It is complete speculation, we've got four 'keepers here at the moment so why would we be looking at other goalies?" said Booker.

But when you consider that two of those four are out for the season and the other two have very little experience it perhaps makes a little sense.

Maybe he's being lined up for the summer?

I'd love Hislop to come here, 'til the end of the season at least.

seems nothing but paper talk to me. Cant imagine that we could afford anything like as much as Shaka would want, and probably get at any other Championship Club

Get real.
Hislop has been playing in the Premiership for most of his career. Newcastle Utd, now Pompey....there's absolutely NO chance we could afford the kind of wage that fella is picking up now.

Maybe he would take a massive pay cut just to stay by his beloved seaside.

The thing is if he comes on loan, we won't necessarily be picking up his entire wage.

So it's not totally out of the question.

Tank could pick him up on the way through, as well!

Well I speculate that MM will not look at keeping Yelldell beyond a month so a new keeper could be worth speculating on

and do we still have the Arsenal guy?

What would he know about the seaside? He's played for West Ham, Newcastle and Portsmouth. It's more likely he's tired of living in places that are deeply shit
