Morning all.

My wife is coming up for her 50th birthday and I was thinking of having a party to celebrate. I'd like to hire a function room in the Hove area and wondered if the great people of NSC had any recommendations?

I need the function room to be in Hove
It needs to be free / as cheap as possible
Preferably not a shithole

I've already tried the greyhound stadium ( £250 to hire Sprinters bar !! )

Any other suggestions?

Ta muchly

Friend of mine had 50th in the Rugby club in Hove Rec, no idea of price, but it was quite nice.

Some of the names of these places may have changed but here goes:

Greenhouse Effect in Church Road, has a small Nightclub style bar underneath that could be hired for private functions and was reasonable, had my 30th Birthday there some years ago

Heist (not sure if its still called this) West Street, you can hire the downstairs with bar staff etc or they may do it free if you meet the minimum bar spend for the evening in question.

As suggested above upstairs at The Wick is also great

I know it's not Hove but I had my 60th in one of the Hospitality Lounges at the AMEX
Great idea! If it were a party for myself, the Amex would be a no brainer. :)
Sadly, my wife is not a football fan and wouldn't appreciate the sentiment

I'm looking at approx 30-40 people. I'm starting to favour Hove Rubgy Club, as its easy to get to for most guests.
Thanks for all the replies anyway everyone

I think the Rugby Club would be to big with 40 people in it! Brother had one there with 150 people and there was still loads of space!

The Stoneham is a good shout..

Really? Oh bugger.
I've not been there, so maybe that's not such a great idea then :(
There seem to be lots of positive comments about the Wick. Assuming that's the one on the corner of Holland Road, I might try there instead!
