Bollocks, they've got trillions of gallons of oil in reserve. They could stop drilling for 4 years and we still wouldn't run out of oil.

Its all designed to screw us.

But they pay for the privilege. Higher taxes, higher fuel prices etc. They contribute more, so let them have it.

Do you have the slightest idea of what the f*** you're talking about?

4x4/offroad/agricultural vehicles that are used for around town and school run are a disgrace. People that buy them for that purpose should be taxed higher and should suffer penalties but they aren't. The don't pay higher tax or higher fuel charges at all. They pay the same tax as anyone with a large (yeah right) engined car, and they have to put more fuel in as their wasteful motors drink more. That's not the same as paying higher fuel charges.

Sussex, by the sea
theres short queues at petrol stations in Shorehm because they haven't hiked their prices sky high, 94p a litre.

I filled up this morning, but only because I was empty, should last me a fortnight if I'm careful.

I'd wager all panic buyers are Daily Mail readers who are only doing so because the paper told them, an they still think its Blairs fault and that America is totally innocent of everything

The car in front, with one small child and its mother, who can barely see over the f***ing steering wheel, is a TOYOTA

The furthest offroad many of the 4x4s get is mounting the pavement as they drop the little darlings off at school. Many of the drivers are technically incompetent, and are actually unable to drive the vehicle, assuming it is no different to a normal car. They have no appreciation of height or space, but because they are in a tank, they don't care either. They are ineffective vehicles for round town driving, fuel inefficient and pedestrian unfriendly, especially in collisions. People will buy whatever they think is trendy, and whatever they think will get them noticed. 4x4s fit the bill at the moment.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the idiocy of the Chelsea Tractor driver this morning. Having walked my son to nursery (about a 20 min walk, very nice we pretended we were power rangers) as we got outside the front door we were driven at by some sort of large Japanese 4x4 which mounted the pavement and proceeded to stop half on the road half on the pavement and directly across the double yellow lines.
When i suggested that sort of a manouevre might be a little dangerous outside a nursery school i was told to mind my own f***ing business he was in a hurry.
Amusingly the manager of the nursery was watching and told him in front of the assembled crowd of 4 year olds and parents that his behaviour wasn't acceptable and that if it happened again they would have to ask him take his child elsewhere.

This morning when I was cycling some women was blocking the road trying to get her child in to the nursery car park, however she could not navigate the car through the gate properly as she has taken the corner to sharp and was about to take her wing mirror off.

She then got in to a big hissy fit reversed and parked on the other side which is what she should have done in the first place.

Of course what made it worse is that as well as blocking the road she also blocked the pavement and some women also had a go at her at the same.

My thoughts at this point where lovely day why are you not trying to walk your child to school.

This is one reason why the roads are crap are chocker block.

Nature for that Hurricane that has reduced the World oil supply by almost 20%.

reduced the US's oil refinement capacity by 20%. big difference.

Everyones fixated on oil, but there is no real issue with oil supply (price rise is speculative bubble). its the supply of refined end product that is the problem. 20% of the highest users supply has gone, so they are now dipping into Europe's to meet demand.

As for blaming Blair, there is a suggestion that fears of shortages where put out into the media by downing street in order to create public hostility to planned protests/blockades.

But was it the Tories who suggested that Downing street was planting stories to discredit the protesters? Or am I really Charles Clarke tryng to fool people into believing that the tories are trying to discedit labour by suggesting labour are trying to discredit the protesters by raising fear of petrol shortages?

:D probably, i may well have read it in the torygraph. I wouldnt normally propagate such conspiracies, but they (the government) do seem to have had ministers and press releases saying all the right things in responce to weekend stories, rather than the usuall flapping about with "no miniter was available".

Let's face it beorhthelm you wouldn't put it past the spin-meisters at Blair-Central to plant a little story would you, but the Tories can't even elect a leader with out a PR disaster so I doubt they're plotting some machiavellian masterstroke around the proposed fuel protests.

Thus excluding anyone with an environment friendly car with a small tank ( Ka and Mini to name but two ) that can't actually fit £25 in.

Also discriminates against people who can't necessarily afford £25 of fuel at that time but need petrol.

Also that means a few people get the fuel rather than everyone getting a little - how fair !!!!!
