Well, considering that the rest were predictably formulaic, with insignificant scripts but just bigger and bigger flashes and bangs, yes, it probably was.

Wouldn't have thought that of Goldfinger myself. The 'Moore' Bonds were laughable and certainly had rubbish scripts.

Off the top of my head, there's at least two Bond films where he catches the villain based on their wine choices (the bit at the end of Diamonds Are Forever is the other one I can remember).

I'm pretty sure 90% of Moonraker is just The Spy Who Loved me with all the references to "under the sea" crossed out and replaced with "IN SPACE".
