he left us seven years ago, but people still see him as a Brighton boy, talk about him if he is still playing for us and he thinks about Brighton & Hove Albion every 5 minutes.

Fair play to the lad, he deserves his call up, he has played well at Fulham last season, but I find the Zamorawankathon a bit cringeworthy sometimes. I hope he takes his chance, as Carlton Cole iz r ova opshun innit bluds

Can't agree. The guy was immense for us - we'd never have won two championships in a row without him - and he is clearly proud and fond of his time at Brighton, as many interviews have shown.

If we're still going to chant "No 1 is Peter Ward etc etc" then why shouldn't we follow with interest one of our best ever players?

Brett I am just being selfish as my numerous Zamora signatures are worth a bit more now he has been selected for England.

I do agree with that - when you're getting people post on here that he's scored a goal in the League Cup or something for Fulham. However, this is arguably a bit different, and quite a big deal. I'm guessing, but wouldn't more than half his career goals still have come for us? People who saw a lot of those goals are always going to cut the lad some slack.

I have actually got Zamora's mobile number and may call him up later to wish him luck.

Are we not supposed to remember players who served us well in their time here ? I don't imagine he thinks about us at all, unless asked by journos, but still he did well here. Should we forget the likes of Peter Ward, Steve Foster etc. too ?

He doesn't seserve a sainthood agreed, he's gone further than I thought he could, but still, thanks for the memories.

How many footballers that played for Brighton go on to get an England cap ?. Foster is the only one I can think of so rejoice and celebrate.

Bobby was brilliant with us, no one can ever doubt that. It's just the way some people talk about him as if he is still our player, that gets me. The praise goes so over board in my opinion that it looks stupid.

The retired players is different, as they have stopped playing so we dont view them as still our players.
Ward is a Man Utd fan anyway, so his legend status has gone :glare:

all just my opinion like...
