Friends Re-united

I was tempted to title this "Friends Re-united ; over-rated?" but that's wearing a bit thin now.

Anyhow, does anyone every uncover a friend that they get back in touch with and stay back in touch with? Or like me, do you get all excited seeing the "old names" then exchange a couple of emails, find out that you are now both sad, middle aged men with a marriage and a family, before never contacting each other again.

Alternatively, you track down old girlfriends, and try to find out if they are still fit.

Has anyone on hear actually tracked down someone that you have subsequently stayed in touch with, and become close friends once more?

Nope, been in contact with old school friends, even organised a get together of about 5 or six of us but that was almost two years ago and haven't bothered since then.

Not close friends but exchanging news with. Emails have been going backwards and forwards for 2-3 years now.

One old schoolfriend and a couple of mates from my youth club/coffee bar days.
Two from when I was in the Navy as well. I am pretty good at staying in contact with people as I still write letters and meet the two bridesmaids I had back in 1969 (both ex WRNS)

Exchanged a few emails with a couple of old mates but never met up with anyone. Kept in touch with everyone I wanted to when I left school. After a particularly heavy night out I childishly decided to email everyone I didn't like and let them know what I thought of them. Forgot I had done it until I got a load of abusive emails back. Decided not to use it again after that.

I foolishly left my email on there once and got a load of emails from three complete DWEEBS who emailed me as if I was at some point their best mate.

I kept in touch with everyone I wanted to - now life has moved on.

I tracked this girl down that i used to hang around with. I must have followed her for two months before she noticed. It was great catching up with her though. Just like old times.

I tracked down a long lost cousin and discovered a branch of the family I didn't know existed.

Notice how the people you went to school with who have been to jail three times are particularly quiet.

One of the shocking things I found is that I am 56 and already a few of my classmates are dead.

Nice one, that's EXACTLY the sort of success story I was hoping to hear.
