I went to Zadar a few years ago. Loved it. The food was really good and had a few Venetian influences including their take on that sweet and sour sardine dish.

Lovely island.
The views from the fortress in Hvar town are amazing.
If you have time the Blue Caves on the island of Bisevo are worth a visit.
As its a drinking thread the Plavac Mali is a fantastic red wine to try
