Not sure about the value of this but it would be nice if the media would stop publishing videos of attacks and the aftermath. The terrorists must love that.

Even if the next murderer in waiting is thinking 'yeah I'll have me some of that notoriety'.

Sorry but I don't agree. They do it because they are radicalised. Everyone knows the names will come out very quickly anyway on social media so it's not going to make the slightest difference.

Anyway, if this is to stop bad people from attempting to gain notoriety then it does rather weaken the argument significantly that these attacks are carried out by the mentally ill.

Several problems with this policy:

1. Occasionally the terrorist will be caught alive, rather difficult to keep name quiet when he or she goes to trial;

2. Reduces the familial pressure not to do commit a terrorist offence because family will be identified and apologize for son/daughter's outrage. If anon, no need to worry about family's involvement. It might actually make matters worse;

3. I know of no evidence that a name makes any difference to whether someone commits an outrage - there might be some perverted celebration of martyrdom among IS or whomever but I know of no evidence that a) this happens; b) it encourages others;

4. It denies the families of victims the opportunity to know the details of who murdered their loved one. I cannot comment on how important this is because fortunately never been in situation but I think I would like to know who the perpertrator was just to give some kind of finality to situatuion (and no, it will not be possible to tell the name to only bereaved families because it will get out to media).

I see the Eiffel Tower is being evacuated as we speak. Let's hope it's not another "mentally ill" person with a penchant for muttering something about Allah.

No. I think it's going to end up a waste of a packed lunch.

Looks like my hopes were fulfilled and I'm very happy to hear it's a false alarm. It's gotten to be a bit of a habit lately for bad things to happen on a Friday night.

Thankfully tonight's misery is over pints of Brown in Jesmond pubs.

Unattended backpack.

People need to wake up and understand that you do not leave backpacks or other bags unattended otherwise the security forces will be called in to deal with it on the basis of its a bomb. Far better to have this reported rather than overlooking,
