When was the last time Leon Knight scored from one? Granted, he's come close before now, but I NEVER think he's going to score for us.

Obviously chippy was out last night, but what is wrong with letting Virgo have a pop from distance? Hitting the ball hard always worked for Stuart Pearce...

Didn't Virgs have TWO shots from distance last night?
Yes I remember one of them, but shouldn't he have been given the ball instead of Leon in the last minute? I just never think Knight looks like scoring from outside the box I'm afraid.

I was hoping Jones would take it - I had a feeling he would score.

Maybe he should have been, yeah. Anyon who hits the ball as hard as he does has got to have a chance from that distance. Knight obviously wanted it though, he was straight over there and wasn't that far away.

We just don't have the quality with Chippy (twat) out of the side.

I think it works well as it normally is, with Chippy hitting the long-range ones, able to put power and curl on them, and Leon taking them closer in, when they need to be placed. Knight's come close on a number of occasions - just wide last night, an inch or so over against Wigan.

I didn't see the Coventry game, but whenever I've seen Virgs take them since, they've always either smacked into a train or castrated someone in the wall.

on a serious note, I couldnt uderstand why leon took the one last night in the last minute, when we had a left footer standing over the ball...a la Jones.

Leon was never going to get it in from that angle, whereas at least jones could have opened the goal up a bit more.

Virgs had 2 and didnt come very close, Leons was unlucky, not a bad effort, he'll come good and he was decent yesterday
Apart from the one that went just wide after taking a deflection, and the one that the Reading keeper had to get down and save.

sorry they were close target wise but didnt look very threatening

Some player have a hard shot, and you usually see their missile zipping high and over the bar from close distances.

A player with Leon's style was JUST RIGHT for getting the ball up and down again in a shorter distance - as he proved.
It was exactly the right shot, just a couple of feet wide.

yes but my point was ........

Leon chose to go to the right, where the angle was very acute, and the wall was in front of him....Jonah could have gone left or right which would have given us more of a chance of scoring.

Something about achimedes triangles or something...innit

I agree with Dave. I Never felt that that was a good position for a right footer. He got it close but I would have preferred a left foot - even Jonah!
