Wolves Chairman Jez Moxey said ""We need to address the manager situation".

"Once we have a permanent manager in place we will then address the issue of the squad. It needs changing and freshening up."

" We've watched Dougies tactical style and we feel his kind of dour, woeful football will fit in perfectly with the squad we already have, and the football that our fans have become accustomed to ".

Wolves are also reported to be interested in Palace's Wilfried Zaha but may face stiff competition from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim and Premiership new boys Reading, whilst Bolton are thought to be considering an improved offer.

Well Wolves are certainly a sufficient level of laughing stock to appoint someone who guided his team to 17th in the division below the one Wolves were playing in. Personally, I'd rather he carried on the great work at Palace where he is boring them so much that their gates will be below 10,000 in a couple of years time.

Id have thought the Wolves vacancy would attract a lot more better/experienced managers than Freedman (no offence). Ok the manager situation has been a farce but they are in good financial state with a decent enough team for the Championship. It sounds like an ideal job for somebody wanting to prove themselves.

I agree, Wolves are a big club, so I'd have thought plenty of managers would relish the idea of trying to take them back up to the Premier league.

Most places have Darren Ferguson as second frave. Dunno where Freedman is second.

Frave is some Norwegian guy no ones ever heard of, and he's odds on everywhere, so there's something in that clearly.

Terry Connor staying quiet after Wolves interview

Terry Connor today confirmed he has been interviewed for the Wolves manager’s job – but erected a wall of silence over the outcome.

Connor was invited to talk with chairman Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey at Morgan’s Carden Park complex in Cheshire on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 49-year-old is understood to be the only candidate spoken to so far, with Morgan and Moxey due to report back to the rest of the directors at today’s board meeting before attending tonight’s end-of-season awards dinner at Telford International Centre.

As yet there are no indications to suggest anyone else is in the running, but the club was always going to wait until after the Championship play-off final on May 19 to make serious headway, with potential candidates involved with other clubs.

Connor made a detour to meet the chairman and chief executive on his way to the Blackburn-Wigan game.

“I went up to meet with Steve and Jez because I was asked to go there to speak to them,” confirmed the boss.

Asked if he was given any indication about keeping the job, Connor said: “None at all. I went up for a chat. I’m not prepared to discuss what we actually said. We’ll finish the season and we’ll see what happens.”

Wolves interview Terry Connor for manager’s job

Terry Connor has had a formal interview to remain as Wolves manager, it was revealed today. He had a meeting with owner Steve Morgan yesterday.

Connor was summoned to the chairman’s Carden Park hotel complex in Cheshire.

It raises the prospect of the 49-year-old being offered the job permanently, despite a series of defeats that has seen the club crash out of the Premier League.

The future of the long-serving coach is expected to dominate discussions at tomorrow’s scheduled Wolves board meeting.

He has already been told to make all preparations for pre-season training and last week he travelled with first-team coach Steve Weaver to Holland to scout a potential new signing.

It is understood Mr Morgan is keen to hear what plans and budget Connor has in mind were he to stay in position beyond the final game of the season at Wigan on Sunday.

Connor, who was handed the job to the end of the season, is the first candidate to be formally interviewed since he was thrust into the hotseat on February 24 following Mick McCarthy’s sacking.

Keeping Connor would provide continuity but concerns remain about the team’s poor defensive record with Wolves having conceded 30 goals in his 12 games in charge so far.
