His irritating girlfriend almost ruined this for me but I saw it at the cinema first and the camera work saved it.
It was nowhere near as good on the small screen. Still very good though.

Why on earth would you do that unless you’ve absolutely zero friends and family? Brave, calculated and exceptionally skilled but also a little self centred and unnecessary IMO

Because he doesn't have friends in the regular sense, just acquaintances because he doesn't function like that, doesn't experience or process emotions like you or I due to autism, doesn't make emotional connections. He's not remotely self centred. It's his relatively unique mental state that allows him to do what he does, almost no one else could do it I imagine. Very difficult to have a relationship with someone like that (i.e. his girlfriend) having to cajole someone into telling you they love you, and him saying what are essentially meaningless words as far as he's concerned (I love you).
