Former Labour shadow chancellor Chris Leslie has warned that the "hard left" is trying to take over the Labour Party, as he criticised leader Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet reshuffle.
The MP told the Daily Politics there was a "natural impetus among the hard left who want to tighten their control" and to "sideline moderate voices when they have the chance to do so".
He also criticised the sacking of former shadow culture secretary Michael Dugher, suggesting it was because Mr Dugher "dared to have different views" from the leadership.

Sacked Shadow Europe minister Pat McFadden says Corbyn told him he was being fired “because of questions I asked about terrorism… following the Paris terrorist attacks”. This is the question McFadden asked:

“Can I ask the Prime Minister to reject the view that sees terrorist acts as always being a response or a reaction to what we in the West do? Does he agree with me that such an approach risks infantilising the terrorists and treating them as children when the truth is they are adults entirely responsible for what they do. No one forces them to kill innocent people in Paris or Beirut and unless we are clear about that we will fail even to be able to understand the threat we face let alone confront it and ultimately overcome it.”

So, according to McFadden at least, he lost his job because he made a point of refusing to blame the Paris attacks on the West. Corbyn’s people say it was because he was disloyal, which to be fair is not mutually exclusive

It wasn't really much of a reshuffle was it? However, Cameron is letting ministers campaign to leave the EU. Cameron is losing control.

Blimey... this really is getting 'interesting'!

http://order-order.com/2016/01/06/shadow-defence-secretary-took-cash-from-law-firm/

"The new Shadow Defence Secretary is going to have difficulty explaining why she accepted thousands of pounds in donations from a law firm which was condemned over false legal claims made against British soldiers. In December 2014, Thornberry took £14,500 from Leigh Day & Co. The firm was blasted by the inquiry into allegations of torture against UK troops, which found the claims were “wholly and entirely without merit” and based on “deliberate and calculated lies”. Last night it emerged Leigh Day is now facing a disciplinary inquiry and the prospect of its lawyers being struck off. "

Tomorrow's fish and chips wrapping...

It would be far more "interesting" if there was ever a left wing politician identified about whom the Tory press were unable to dredge up some sort of terribly shocking smear...

Had you though that it might just not be a smear?

a shadow cabinet reshuffle is quite a big deal politically........always has been

would you prefer the thread was called NHS strike please dont mention the reshuffle?

So let's see then, on the one hand there's:

a) the rather scruffy bearded man who leads the opposition by a record mandate is reshuffling his shadow cabinet after 4 months as they are providing too much resistance to his attempts to implement a new approach to the game called politics

and on the other:-

b) the pig's head f*cking toff who is our prime minister and, in spite of his unequivocal assurances to the contrary last year, has now announced that, running scared of cabinet resignations and revolt, there will be a free EU referendum vote for all MPs.

Hmm, which is by far and away the most significant political event and therefore clearly more important to start a thread about?

Well, we know what you've chosen; I suppose it must have been exciting to hear the occasional, misfiring cerebral synapse echoing around your cranial cavern as you arrived at your decision, even though it was always obviously, in your case, a no-brainer.
