I don't imagine sparrow and dicker are going to be spending too mch time on the pitch. I'd rather he played some proper first team football for the first 6 months of the season than playing 10-15 minutes every now and again for us.

Yea a 17 year old can play week in week out in a tough league with only having played a few competitive matches in his career so far :ffsparr:

If Caskey plays 20/30 odd games for Oxford and really impresses, then comes back in six months time, it will be like a new signing and won't cost a penny and could still have a major say in our coming campaign. Could turn out to be a masterstroke.

I don't know why we bother having a manager, we all know better than him and could save TB what must be a considerable wage as we'd all do it for nothing. We could spend Gus wages towards the striker that he is so useless at finding

Sorted

I'm gonna give Azure an ultimatum as my input to the NSC manages Albion team this week

I remember it, yes. Didn't Sparrow play a blinder, and score twice?

He obviously has the talent but needs the experience. With both under his belt, he's going to be a great player for us.

JFC needs time to gain some experience playing football at a first team level, I think when he comes back in December, he may play a big role towards the end of the season so long as he can prove himself and play well consistently.

Why do you (and a number of other NSC posters) presume to know better than Gus, Tanno, Charlie, Luke Williams & Dave Burke et al when it comes the playing squad's capabilities and how best to develop them?

They see all the players day in day out, they'll have mapped out a future for each of them in conjunction with Tony and the rest of his Management team. You, me and the rest of the fans only see the players for 90 minutes a week at best; we don't know how any of the players fit in to the club's aspirations and the big picture as far as how they want to achieve their aims.

Jake's performance in the Saints game was great, other games not so but those match performances are just a small part of the overall consideration given to how best to develop one of our key assets.

Similarly, using Chamberlain's elevation to first team regular as a justification to do the same to Jake is to fail to understand that players are individuals, have different development needs and what is OK for one player in a particular set of circumstances might be totally wrong for another in a completely different team.

Whether Matt or Gary are better than Forster-Caskey probably hardly comes into the equation at all.

If you have a look at the stats thread someone started today, you'll see Dicker started most games and played most minutes in pre-season. I suspect he'll be spending more time on the pitch than you think, whether you like it or not

If it's good enough for Beckham and Defoe to go on loan to lower league clubs, it's good enough for JFC. I fully expect him to do well at Oxford and come back a better player.

Dicker and Sparrow are better players than the OP gives them credit for.

Very much this, he has been sent out to make a stake to play regular football and to prove he is ready - he couldnt of done that here in the dev squad.

Completely different types of player...from a tactical perspective, it's like comparing Alan Navarro to Vicente.

Theres no doubt that Jake will be a great player in the near future, but Dicker and Sparrow(the latter of whom incidentally is extremely underrated) are workhorses.

JFC is the next Vicente for us and he needs to be nurtured - not chucked in at the deep end.

:lolol: Unfortunate coincidance for the OP.

Sparrow is far better than people realise. His double at Swindon on the opening day a couple of years ago was simply majestic.

Just hope he can become more consistent. Shame about his sending off last season, a run in the team would have done him a world of good..

Is it me or is this one of the more brainless suggestions given that he is out on loan and cannot return before January at the earliest?

The fact he's played a bit in pre-season is a worry. I can't see how hit forces himself into a central midfield of Bridcutt, Crofts and Vicente. We won't be challenging for top six if Dicker is a major part of the first team.
