Obviously no, hence my location. But I don´t think either keeper´s qualities have changed that dramatically since last season!

If Kuipers has emerged a new and improved keeper, so be it, but I have seen enough of the two over their time at the club to know what they´re about. As I said in my previous post, I think it is a good idea to have a number one, not flit in and out game by game depending on three game´s form. Roberts is number one, and I think McGhee will show this on Saturday.

If Kuipers has improved, it would make him world-class. He always was better. In EVERY department. And as for this knackered old chestnut about his kicking...

Aaaaaaarrrgghhhhh!!!!

Granted, there isn´t a lot in it in terms of ground kicking, but Robert´s drop kicking tends to be incredibly accurate. I´m not knocking Kuipers, I just think his hero status masks his deficiencies. He´s a top keeper, but we have two of those and Roberts is better.

If Roberts continues to be injured and Kuipers continues to excel, I have no problem with him playing ahead of BR, but as of now, which three games gone, I´d bring back Roberts.

I´ll take your word for his performances, if he´s doing well, that´s hardly bad for the club, is it?

Last season we conceeded 11 goals at home........................this season we have conceeded 3 in 2 games...............just a thought ???

A rather random thought at that. Last season the rest of our team prevented a lot of teams getting into goal-scoring situations, this season they have shown a worrying propensity for letting teams wander right through the middle of them!!

The manager has seen more goals conceded by Kuipers as opposed to Roberts on a ratio of games palyed - Fran will be happy when Ben is fit again.

6 goals conceded this season, all had an element of poor defending about them, not the keepers fault

Roberts is a better shot stopper but i think he is a liabilty at times coming out for balls he has no chance of getting.

Kuipers kicking was poor last seasons but he seems to have improved this.

He has to stay in goal now-

how good is it us arguing over who is the best keeper, I cant remeber the last time Albion had two quality keepers

i would stick with kuipers, i thought he was really good on saturday, a couple saves he made were awesome, certainly something that ive missed when he hasnt been here

I'd pick Roberts, but only just. Kuipers is unbelievably agile and made two stunning saves against Coventry to keep us in it after going a goal down - probably the better shot-stopper of the two. Both could improve their kicking; I feel Roberts overall does distribute the ball better. But on crosses I feel Roberts is superior; yes he comes for an awful lot of them but 99 times of 100 he will either catch the ball, punch it clear or win a free kick (whether goalies should in these situations is debateable, but they do). This inspires confidence in the defence, as opposed to Kuipers who is prone to slightly more mares on crosses.

Both class keepers, and it's an excellent problem to have - plus if what I've heard about Richard Martin is true we could soon have a 3-way battle for the jersey:clap2:

Kuipers by a country mile. Roberts or Coco aws a liability every time the ball was in the air last season and didnt concede because we were up against second rate 2nd division strikers.

Kuipers shot stopping is far superior, and if hes sorted the kicking out then hes easily number 1.

You're not listening, are you?

Kuipers kicking is now as good. In fact, I'd say Roberts kicking was getting worse at the end of last season, but that may have been down to his injury.

If only they were both as accurate as their coach (Keeley).

Glad I'm not the manager, though, as I don't think I can decide who is the best at the moment. On that basis, I'd leave Kuipers in unless he suddenly loses form.

Sorry, how does that work? I have an opinion, you tell me I am wrong, I listen, then I change my opinion to match yours.

If Kuipers has improved his kicking, good! I am hardly going to moan about having two top class keepers, I just prefer Roberts!

The thing i have notced on this site is when ever kuipers makes a good save he becomes world class as mr orange stated in earlier post even if he makes a few mistakes. On the other hand if roberts pulls of 4 world class saves in a match and claims everything but punches one cross away he is called a clown

mr locky you are my hero, it does seem that the defence listen to what roberts says more

i sign of a good keeper is that he doesnt have to make many saves as he organise his defence so well.

Quite. So much of what Roberts does goes unnoticed because it prevents chances - this is what I mean by being a classier keeper

I think McGhee believes in having a number one for stability, and that man is Ben Roberts, assuming he´s not out for too long

Where's the consistency then since Roberts is prone to back problems and misses games?

I think FDM should keep the shirt until he starts making errors. They are both reasonable keepers. Roberts distribution is much more effective and his handling is marginally better but FDM is the more agile short stopper.
