Putting bids in for decent players is a good thing isn't it?

There are some stupid fuckers on here and it is obvious why Kakka turned down Man City as we have BID for him, I dare say Limp Dick is at Gatwick now with Bazza Lloyd waiting for the next Easyjet to Milan.

We would still play Virgo though, Kaka will have to make do with a place on the bench.

I can't help thinking this is another 'We are bidding for a player we have no hope of signing' type story.

Why would he leave Stockport (who are better than us) and his native North West to join a relegation scrap at the other end of the country?

And I really HATE the way Dick comes out and goes on about how "I" have bids in for players etc but is nowhere to be seen when things are going wrong.

Because he isn't on great money at Stockport and even with our limited means he will get a good pay rise

I liked the quote from Mr. Knight........."...Talks with the player and his agent regarding personal terms are ongoing".( no change there then for Mr. Knights speedy negotiation skills ).

Should he haggle for another 2 years.....(as with Forster..)...and we,ll get him for £50,000.....?

to quote the man himself in todays paper

"Without divulging names, I have substantial offers for two players lodged with their clubs and, with one of the clubs, I have agreed transfer terms."

To quote the club in the summer of 2006

"The board has discussed it and the board has decided the board will retain the services of Mak McGhee"

To quote the man himself, back in october 2006

"I listen to the fans, and I decided I would fire McGhee"

He likes to use "I" if it's a positive thing, and hide behind "the board" for negative/unpopular things.

As chairman he does make the offer. But he makes the offer on behalf of the club, on behalf of the board. The money may or may not come from Dick Knight originally, but it is the club's money. The money may or may not have come from the blooms, or some other mystery source that is also financing the stadium.

The club are making the offer. Dick Knight happens to be the one delivering the offer (and taking credit for it).

That quote does nothing to prove he has money to give the club.

Does any of that really matter?

I don't care who actually puts the money into the club - once they've given it to the club and it gets spent on players, it's the club's money.

I also don't care if DK says 'I' or 'We'. Is it really that important? In the end, regardless of who says what, the club is buying the players and the only judgement to be made is, when we see them play, are they good enough?

The thread was kind of tongue in cheek pointing exactly what you said. Someone else pointed on here that he only takes credit/appears for good/positive things, but is nowhere to be seen for the bad stuff (apart from the press conference for Jonny Dixon signing)

Doubt it, unfortunately he's playing really well at palace at the moment but I think he's still on the transfer list so you never know!

the same can be said for Jimmy McNulty

When the original post is "dick knight has money, look he said I made an offer" yes, it does matter. But as has been pointed out to me, I missed the tongue in cheek nature of the OP.
