It's all over twitter. Sounds like the ESL was flush or bust for them.

FSG are reportedly putting Liverpool up for sale, as the fallout from the now defunct ESL continue.

Two ways of looking at this news, either they are selling because they can't expand the business by joining this "Super League" or, they can't survive on the current Sky/Bt etc deal.

Possibly a bit of both but mostly, I should imagine, because their continued ownership is now completely untenable. They've made one of the most respected clubs in world football into a complete laughing stock. Shambles.

Football: you either 'get it' or you don't. And 'getting it' is nothing to do with simply understanding the Laws of the game.

The Glazers at United never worried about that ! They never " GOT " football UK style but boy, do they understand making money !

Well, they understand leveraging debt. Not sure if that's the same thing as making money or creating value

"Most of the capital used by Glazer to purchase Manchester United came in the form of loans, the majority of which were secured against the club's assets, incurring interest payments of over £60 million per annum."

It's the Barca Real that want this money as they have paid massively over the odds over the years and run up a massive debt they cannot sustain, and now plead poverty as they have spent their money on players (Glacticos) they cannot sustain as their leagues do not command the same broadcasting rights as the PL.

England has a 4 division professional league (arguably 5) because fans turn up all over the country. Does not compare to any country in europe for attendance. From Div 1 to 4.

This is where the heart is. Fans watching football because it means something. Half time at Hereford was the most soul destroying emotion. Full time...........

If FSG put LC up for sale - fine. The next buyer knows the rules. I'm sure most LFC fans would agree.

They have milked United for years now. they never had the money to properly buy United but managed to effectively rent the club for cheap while trousering all or most of the profits.

Nowt wrong with the football club. Soiled American owners trying to get out with as much ill-gotten gains as possible?

No way can Liverpool walk away from this utter car crash with their reputation untarnished, same as the others.

Bollocks! The club is fine. The manager is fine (Klopp spoke out against the ESL). The players are fine (see statements by Milner and Jordan Henderson, strongly against the ESL). The fans are fine. The owners are shit.

If Liverpool can get rid of the owners and dispatch them back to the financial gutters of the States where they belong (admittedly it will cost them a lot, because the American shysters will milk it all the way) their reputation will be enhanced rather than tarnished.
