Is Reading your 'dream job'? Is it honestly the BEST job you can think of in football? Because after listening to the interview on SCR yesterday where SC said words to the effect of...If we don't get the go ahead for Falmer, then I've slit my own throat by not accepting the Reading job...I have to disagree in a big way. It is ludicrous to think that there won't be equally good offers up for grabs at the end of Coppell's contract with BHA. Therefore, stick with us (it's quite clear that you love working at BHA and that you have an excellent 'team' around you here). Whilst you're busy organising the Div 2 Chamionship, the Falmer situation will become clear, THEN you can re-visit your options, having done the right thing by Brighton and remained one of the few honest, sincere, gentlemen left in the game. A MASSIVE majority of BHA supporters want SC to stay as was so effectively shown yesterday. Be a hero Steve, be different, go with your heart, stay with us. You have broken down the barriers (that some put up) you've won (just about) everyone over, don't blow it. There's more passion in the queue for the chip wagon at Withdean than you'll find in all of Berkshire. Do yourself and us a favour....STAY!

Good post.

I was thinking the same thing. The Reading job isn't the greatest job in the world. If SC stays and continues to do well at Brighton there will still be plenty of opportunities out there for him when he decides to move on at some future date.

For now, please stay Steve and see us back into Div 1 and into our new stadium.

We all know he has the ability to manage a better club than Reading, the longer he stays here and continues to do well the more chance he has of getting his dream job, i only hope he realises that himself...

Some good points. Just what is the attraction of Reading anyway? Some souless concrete bowl, in a souless industrial estate, near a godawful mobile car park that is the M4. Nothing like picturesque Withdean!..

As for the town itself??....URGHHHHHHH!! The fans?.....What fans? I've more passion in my little finger than the average Reading fan. Mute Glory hunters when they are doing well. At other times, a mural of ten thousand faces scattered around fifteen thousand empty seats. Mr Mad. is known to be tight when it comes to his managers salaries. By all accounts SC has been offered little more than he is getting in Gods own city, so SC isn't going to get rich quick by moving to the smelly biscuit factory!

Nah, stick with us SC, you know it makes sense! (Doesn't it??)

I think you'll find he's being offered twice his annual salary there.

On NSC for over two decades...
We are so close to the promised land, it is almost within touching distance. In less than three months we'll know whether we can build our new home, two years after that we'll be playing there. We're top of our division and looking like we can go the distance despite our injury problems. Everything is looking rosy......, except for one little thing.

Please don't leave now Steve, you'll miss out on the excitement!!

:)

I would like Steve Coppell to go to Reading with the opinions of the place held as above. In being therefore extremely biased (aren't we all :p :p ), I would like him to view the culture of Reading, with a large ethnic community and many festivals and carnivals and an abundance of retail adjudged to be the best in the entire south of England outside London, to be a "real" place, rather than one where whenever a place looks slightly derelict, a monument which looks slightly odd is put in its place to represent "art" and "cool" and "chic". We like our derelict buildings to look derelict, and long may they remain derelict.

There is nothing false about Reading, its a place that lives in its heritage and its history, with a proud tradition of links to the Monarchy, with Kings and Queens buried in the old (burned down) cathedral. The Madejski Stadium itself is purely a replication of the "nu-cool" statues that appear in the middle of Brighton every now and then to please the new punters coming down, or to give it that edge over fierce south-coast rivals Bognor Regis and Eastbourne. It is considerably easier to win at bowling in Brighton pier than in either of the other two said destinations. Don't let that lead you into a false sense of security though.

Forget the M4 and its stand-still carriageway. Forget the M25 down the road and Heathrow Airport. Forget the heroin addicts in the train station subway. Try to forget about the urinals that come out of the ground in the city centre in the evenings for the local clientele (not easy to forget). Chav a paper from Brighton's Newsagent (how ironic) for old time's sake. Try to piss in the alleyways but don't get nicked. Try to dodge the bullets down the Oxford Road on the way to your favourite porn shop, the choices of which number 8 in total to cater for various sexual persuasion and fetishes. Forget the industrial estates and greenbelt science parks bringing in the Trevs of tomorrow.

There is a choice. A plastic stadium in a real city, or a real stadium in a plastic city. (Bit harsh actually - take with care)

See, you can do anything with words if you try hard enough! ;)

P.S. Brighton has loads of quality bars and clubs... thought I'd add that. And women... top notch stuff.

P.P.S. Just go to the East end of Reading. Forget the West and the South, its a shithole.

P.P.P.S Reading is a better place than Wolverhampton and Portsmouth, although probably not Brighton for the reasons stated in (P.S.)

P.P.P.P.S. ....Honest.
