Congratulations! What a game that was! That 4th quarter was really dramatic, I thought when the Colts recovered that 1 yard fumble they were heading for (undeserved) overtime. Good result for everybody as it throws it wide open now.

Spent the best part of 6 hours watching football (American) yesterday evening, thoroughly enjoyed it. Those of you who dismiss it as just armoured rugby don't know what you're talking about.

Damn right, That 4th quater was immense. How did Mike Vanderjack miss that Field Goal? He had NEVER missed a kick at home the the Play-Offs (The best part of 30 kicks!) Weird game.

I'm not working today as to avoid those plastic panthers fans.

It's nice and quite when they loose. :salute:

Seahawks voodoo has been put to bed, great win after losing Alexander so early. Hassellbeck won it for them.

Next Sunday's game against the Panthers will be to close to call, Smith looks a superb receiver, over 200 yards last night. Hope Alexander is recovered fully.

Come on Seahawks

I thought Maurice Morris coming in and filling Alexander's shoes was the big difference there actually.

He was a good replacement but I think Hassellbeck had to change his game plan considerably once Alexander got injured, including a long run for a touchdown himself

He will, hes only 30. I think it maybe next season/season after.

Not too sure about that. You have to remember that unlike British sports, NFL teams will more often than not completely disassemble themselves every year or so. Peyton is good but relies a lot on his other offensive options, and I don't know their contract situations but I'd imagine some might be looking elsewhere.

Also its taken them years to put together a decent defense to match the offense, again some of those keystones will probably be looking to money elsewhere.

Also, Manning is a choker!

It will be interesting to see where last night leaves Manning severe dislike of Vanderjagt. No-one can forget the "idiot kicker" remark at the pro-bowl a few years ago.

Im fully aware of the fact that teams tend to do that, But after their season i cant reallt see too many big players moving on. They only got beat in two games this season.

I cant see Manning being any more of a Vanderjagt fan after last night!

I can see what you mean, but it seems to be that success or team atmosphere (perhaps Patriots excempt) doesn't seem to be an issue compared to money for these guys.

Philly were perennial NFC championship contenders, but it didn't stop half their defense disappearing 2 years ago when their contracts expired en masse.

Never been particularly interested in American football, but that 4th quarter of the steelers game had me on the edge of my seat. Classic entertainment.

And I know I'm talking from the most ill-informed position ever, but I don't know how you can say Manning is a choker. His 4th quarter performance was mega, the pass for the extra two points after the touchdown looked pretty impressive, as was his one for Clarke's touchdown.

(Apologies for sounding like an American talking about our football, haven't quite worked out how to say what I mean when talking about the American game!)

You should try and get into it Brix, mate, you'd be surprised. I too used to have a very low opinon of Americans when it came to sport; sure they produced lots of good individualis in ghetto sports such as boxing, and rich white sports like golf and tennis but their team sports (except perhaps Ice Hockey which is more Canadian) were a joke. They didn't/couldn't play football, instead they played basketball, a speeded-up version of netball (a GIRL'S game); baseball, a speeded-up version of rounders (a GIRL'S game), and when they did play a proper man's sport like rugby they put on loads of padding and a sodding great helmet in case they got hurt. I got into it, almost in spite of myself, by watching Channel 4 in the mid-80s. It took a bit of conscious effort to appreciate the athleticism and skill involved but I did and I got hooked.

Still think baseball and basketball are pants though.

Not willing to watch a game where the breaks last 10 times as long as the play

Only 3 times as long! 60 mins of playing time normally takes about 3 hours. They breaks are part of the rhythm, especially on TV it gives you a chance to re-live the play as there's always loads of things you've missed.
