I play hockey to quite a high level and our refs are like that too. They don't take any shit from players. In some ways it's a good thing, bit you do et some utter nobs who hand out cards (and stop and break up the play) at every possible opportunity.

I don't think he aided himself by pleading not guilty. He claims that he was talking to Tom Youngs instead, however if you watch it again on TV you can see him clearly looking at the ref when he says it.
