Cant help thinking about an FA cup run.. Was just wondering how beneficial a good run would be in terms of much needed dosh. The question i pose is though ...would we be better off with a few good away ties supposing we won them and albeit against bigger clubs ?..What percentage of the gate would we get ?or would we be better off at home ?

It think its 25%
so 75% of a withdean 6800 gate would be 5100 (x£20)
and 25% of a premiership gate of 35,000 (taken from this years average)
would give you 8750(x20)

So away games would be better for you, if my percentages are correct!

Which unfortunately only gives about 7 teams that everyone wants to play against because of ground sizes. And some of them (Sheff Wed for example) are hardly glamour ties.

But you're right that away games are better, there are still plenty of opportunities of earning more than 5100 x £20 from Premiership fixtures with plenty of away support.

Do clubs receive all their gate receipts from away games though? Or is it different in the FA Cup? I was led to believe that the amount of money that goes to away teams for how many fans they bring was not that much (if any), and that if you go to Man Utd, then Man Utd will get your gate receipts.

but as our crowds fluctuate so much, I don't know whether it would be worth it.

...it wouldn't.They fluctuate somewhere between poor and embarrassing for such a 'big club'.

I'm not denying you've done a great job in attracting new gloryhunters to the Mad stad this last couple of years. As for the Withdean, no wonder things were at a low ebb,we've just had the guts ripped out of us by one of the crude cheesy nouveau rich clubs strutting around like big-time charlies at the mo.

Getting back to the question.....

I always understood it to be that for FAC 10% went to the FA, the two clubs splitting the rest - 45% each. Therefore when we play a home tie it actually COSTS the Club money.

That's dead right. Shitloads of cash for TV and/or radio coverage plus the prize money for winning in each round has been increased this year.
