On the terraces!!
programme last nuight on Bravo - absolutely spot on.

showed how the game was in the 70's and 80's and my god it was sooooo much better.... better all round...... ground, fans, tackles, passion etc...

not the hyped up pricks who fall about all over the place these days, and the fans who sit nice and quietly in their seats while eating a nice sarnie - all BOLLOX these days!:)

Saw it too, good programme, that's what footballers should be like, not you pansy Terry, Lampard, Ferdinand & Ronaldo's.

Now wonder more and more people are going off football when you look back to how it used to be when it actually was a MANS game.

I enjoyed that too, especially the bit about how you'd have to have a multiple fracture before being let off the pitch injured.

How times have changed, I looked out my window last night watching my two lads playing football and they spent more time on the ground feigning injury than playing football.

Saw the footage of the Newcastle v Brighton 1979 game the other day. f*** me, there some meaty challenges going in - players ending up on their arses having done a 360 in mid-air, picked themselves up and dusted themselves off and just got on with it.

Today, though...

One thing I am glad about is that I never experienced a 'hot leg' or whatever it was.

Football was ruined when women started tagging along. FACT.

Players now feel the need to ponce themselves up for women attention.

Extreme tackles are not allowed because the violence may upset women.

Women complain if toilet facilities are not up to scratch.

Swearing offends women.

Why couldn't they leave our game alone :censored:

football has been accepted by money,

i would much rather go to a mid week away game, pissing rain huddled in a cow shed with Bovril and a pie (with fork) than visit some of the souless arena stadiums that are appearing everywhere

Wouldn't mind going back to mindless thugery for a year or so if it meant the snobs and women stopped going.

We need to reclaim our game now

What are we supposed to expect....

Get in foreign managers....fill the league with foreign players.....there you have it....

Foreign football culture..............

How about that Final Saturday......disgrace

I remember never being able to watch Serie A football, we gotta be careful that we dont go the same way.

I sat in the North stand at Withdean last season.......a boy behind me stood up at sang...SEEEEEAGUUUUULLS....

His Mum said sssshhhhhhh...and he sat down

If only they knew of the atmosphere of days gone past...yeah sometimes it was a little scary...but wow......beautiful

This is so true and sad!

Although im too young to remember the 'good old days' where men were real men down the pit and all that i hate playing against PANSIES!

Last night for example, i played down at Westows and on the other team there was this lad who was about 15 but a streak of piss, he didnt stop moaning and shouting about EVERYTHING in the game, even when you tackled him cleanly he threw himself on the floor and went mental if he didnt get a free kick!

One time, my mate had the ball and this lad came rushing in from behind him and my mate just turned his body to sheild the ball and this kid went flying onto the floor and started screaming at the ref and DEMANDING a free kick and my mate get sent off for an 'obvious' foul!

Everyone else was just thinking, "why dont you get up and get on with it you twat"!

I hate that kind of player!

You wouldnt get Chech or Van Der Sar playing on last saturday with a broken neck would you?

ESPN shows a lot of good games. My daughter who's 26 cant believe what she's watching sometimes. I have to explain this is the game I grew up with and is the reason why I'm constantly screaming at the poofs now.

They should show the Chelsea v Leeds cup final every now and then. That was more like Rollerball than football.

They should also show that footage of YOU storming the SHED in your red shoes in 1975 and planting an Albion flag behind the goal, THEN taking out 200 Chelsea thugs and a few dozen of the SWEENEY, whilst humming GOSBTS and practicing for University Challenge by reading The Collected Works of Charlie Drake

Wasn't just the football that was better in the 70s & 80s, it was the haircuts too...

Why has football become so SHITHOUSE now?
