Having been both side of job interviews for many years, I've always wondered what questions they get asked.

Yet another change with Lee Clark getting the Birmingham job and acting chairman Peter Pannu told the club website: "I was impressed by Lee's tenacity, zest and ambition. He is determined to make Birmingham a force."

Does that mean he asked the "where do you see Birmingham in 5 years time" and Clark said "best team in the world"?

Do the chairman pull out their previous results and ask them how they got knocked out by a tinpot cup in the FA Cup?

Do they ask if they had x amount of money, which players would they buy?

Do they just give the job to the person who gave the most bullshit or confident answers?

If you were a chairman, what would you ask?

I very much suspect they know who they want based purely on reputation and results. The interview then becomes largely a negotiation process, how much do we pay you and how long the contract and how much available for transfers and wages. Of course the Chairman will want to hear "I'll get you promoted or win this that or the other in "x" time and the incoming Manager naturally obliges unless it's totally unrealistic when he may back out, unlikely though.

Managers like Clark/Bruce will say whatever to get the job and attempt to re-establish. Others making a step up or sideways move will be more about money (their own and budgets) security, facilities or simply the bigger club with more potential

Having managed a semi-proffesional club in Croatian league 3, I was on the interview once. They ask you general bullcrap like previous jobs, why you, and what are your short-term plans.

I would ask clark how the f*** did he not take 'udders up with the money he had spent! Would seriously ask about what he would have done differently and why did he think it didn't work out for him.

And his response would probably be that the team he built did indeed win promotion.

Leaving Jordan Rhodes on the bench for the playoff final was criminal. That said, I do have a lot of time for Lee Clark given how he acted at Withdean in our Championship winning season. He showed the class that Adkins lacked.
