This thread just goes to show the decline in good quality chants, obviously I'll be in a minority but I think the stuff sung now really is a crock of old brown stuff compared to the good old days/

The last time I personally heard that was away at Peterborough 2 season's ago.

Yep, I think we got up to 17, also sang at Pompey, our first away game after promotion.

And "Mull-ry is a Ho-mo-sexual"...

Notorious chant in the mid-1960's was

"Harry Roberts is our friend, is our friend, is our friend,

Harry Roberts is our friend, he shoots coppers!

After the notorious killing of the three London policeman by villains Roberts, Whitney and Duddy. I think it was a bank robbery that went wrong.

All done. In the best possible taste!

Also;

Char-la-la-la Livesey ....

My my oh my, Powney's better than Yashin,
Dave Turner's better than Eusebio,
and Palace are in for a thrashing.

I seem to remember is singing something to the tune of Yellow Submarine - we all piss in a red and blue pot ?

To "oh my god I can't believe it"

Jason Dodd I can't believe it.
He now plays for Brighton and Hove.

To "Roll with it"

Seb Carole has it.
Seb Carole has time
You can say what you say, doesn't matter which defender gets in his way.
He's got time on the ball and he knows how to play.

I agree. However, if any of these chants were suggested as new songs today the song nazis would promptly dismiss them as 'cringeworthy' or 'tinpot'.

I was at St Mary's last week, and I noticed that as well.

I don't think they sang "You'll never walk Alone" at all, though. I was waiting for it. They did make a lot of noise, though.

I was there too and they did sing it a few minutes before the penalty . Most of the time they were singing "poetry in motion" song. Was there as a neutral and have to say the Liverpool fans were the best I'd seen for many years.
