My niece just posted this on FB

It's landing gear won't lock. According to the live updated on line they are going in for a non standard landing but they say the undercarriage will smash on landing. They have twenty ambulances on scene and the roads one side of airport are shut off. They have been flying circles to burn excess fuel to lessen the chances of fires hope dads not at work tonight... Seeing as he's an aeronautical engineer at Gatwick for virgin!!! Lots of work coming his way!

Reporting that it's diverting to LHR now?

Nah, just turned to approach Gatwick. Fingers crossed everything turns out ok. I'm sure preparedness for just this kind of emergency event must be pretty bloody thorough.
