Albion enjoy Jake Robinson's hat-trick at Huddersfield in 2006
Albion will be renewing a keen rivalry from their five-year League One stint when they go to the John Smith’s Stadium today.
The Seagulls met Huddersfield the maximum ten times in that time.
They won the first of those ten in style – 3-0 with a Jake Robinson hat-trick in West Yorkshire – but dropped points in each of the subsequent nine.
There were some compelling storylines along the way.
What used to be the Galpharm was the scene of a humbling defeat – 7-1 in August 2009 – and a frustratingly narrow one – 2-1 in March 2008 when a harsh penalty verdict against Andrew Whing dealt a blow to the Seagulls’ play-off hopes.
Albion were in danger of relegation when they visited towards the end of 2008-09 but a 2-2 draw kept them out of the drop zone and set the scene for the final day.
Russell Slade’s men headed south knowing a win at home to Stockport would ensure survival and they duly managed it thanks to a Nicky Forster goal.
Huddersfield fans will remember it as the day they bade farewell to their star striker Andy Booth.
Town went unbeaten in their five trips to Withdean in those seasons.
Of most note were the 3-2 win in the last game at the athletics stadium and a bizarre finale to a 1-1 draw in January, 2008.
That was when Gary Hart and Chris Brandon were sent-off for fighting after the final whistle amid confusing scenes in the south-west corner of the ground.
Throw in current Town boss Simon Grayson and his record of seeing his teams grab late equalisers against Gus Poyet’s side –by Leeds at Elland Road in 2010 and The Amex last season – and there is plenty of history to today’s game.
