Did anyone have the misfortune to listen to the game on 5 live on Monday? Well it was truly awful. A quiet spell at work has enabled me to write the following letter to them.

Dear 5live,

I'm writing to complain about your match "commentary" of Brighton v QPR on Monday 18 August.

Commentary is a loose term for this disappointing coverage. The match seemed to be a distraction from talking about any other footballing story Jonathan Pearce and Alan Pardew could think of. Including inane trivia (e.g. can you name premiership debutants scoring on Sat).

I doubt that during a Monday evening Premiership commentary the actual match would be so marginalised.

It is not only Premiership fans that pay for the BBC.

Good on you they seem to forget there are 92 clubs in the league!!! Not just the few they seem to concentrate on.

I'm glad someone has picked up on this because I was going to start a thread on this yesterday. It was a farce. There were five minutes spells where there was no mention of the game whasoever. In fact when I tuned in halfway through the first half I wasn't even sure if they were at the game. There was a discussion lasting 10 minutes about the relative merits of Phil (who?) Parkinson as a manager of the mighty Colchester. Apparently he's a mate of Pardew. What the f*** is going on?

5Live used to just commentate on the game whether it was ManU in the Champions League final or Port Vale against Northampton in a meaningless midtable 2nd div clash. The other night did not count as commentating to me. It was like too blokes in a pub with a game of football on Sky in the corner in which they have little or no interest and just pontificating about football in particular. f*** the bloody emails, just tell us whats happening on the pitch!

yes i listened to the commentary for a couple of mins but turned off after trying to find out whether they were at the match or not, there just a sort of crowd noise in the background, so god knows where they were, apparently they were at withdean! Absolutely abysmal!
