You know, I used to go to the Goldstone regularly. Used to go away too. Seen the cup final and the replay. Then I went and lived abroad for a bit. And, when I returned, shrivelled, I did'nt come home to my beloved Sussex but rather moved West.

In these days of my dotage I support the Albion because it was my first football love 'til I die. It never leaves you. eh?

And bollocks to my new local teams. (except Rovers)

Now I support the Seagulls away.

Tomorrow is my first visit to a league match at the Withdean.

Anything I should Know?

Yes you should know you´re a fair weather supporter if you´ve never been to Withdean before now

My first trip to Withdean was in 1982 for my schools sports day. I was in the 110 metres hurdles in the straight by the North stand - I thought it was a cool stadium then :nono:

Near the park.
I went once when I still lived in Brighton to an american football game there. I seem to remember they had a 14,000 crowd that day.

14000 in Withdean ? How ? I know the Brighton B52s used to play there though but that was before we moved in thus no seats. By that token I suppose there could have been 14000 in attendance.

Well, I think it was the B52's against the San Francisco 49'ers in about 198? and there was loads of people stood on grass and grass banking. Yes, a bit different from today I suppose.

Feel free to eat the food, it is much better than at most grounds in this division.

I've had a cheeseburger and a cup of tea prior to pretty much every game I've attended at Withdean, which is a lot given that I've been a season ticket holder for the entirity of our tenure there, and I'm still not dead

Now, the burger I had at Derby made me feel quite queasy.

Well it was nearly 2,000 years ago, no crowd restrictions then....
