Hastings is a solid Labour gain whether she stays or not. Rudd isn't interested apparently in the leadership now. Private polling of party members showed she wouldn't win a leadership contest. Had the endorsement of Ruth Davidson too and also an agreement with Nicholas Soames for him to stand down in Mid Sussex apparently and her move from Hastings and Rye.

And your evidence for such a statement is . . .

That may or may not have been the case. A leader with a shred of humanity might just take the view that there is no point in kicking someone when they are down.

So down because she undermined the PM and British Foreign policy? Poor little Priti, I feel so sorry for her.....................

Priti Patel resigns. A strong and stable leader would have sacked her.

Was it only 18 months or so when the Tories were baying at Corbyn and the Labour Party at PMQ's calling them inept, divided and incompetent ? The boot is truly on the other foot now. Looks like another box of Kleenex for Theresa needed tonight.......I wonder what else can go wrong ?

Assured is it? Says who? This reminds me of the joke many years ago "someone broke into the Kremlin last night and stole next year's elections results . ."

Everyone apart from you. That 346 majority? I bet most of it is in care homes over in Bexhill now. Times are changing Comrade - you'll be voting Labour again too, like you did in June.

Now that is a strange statement, even by your standards. An element of fantasy is creeping in here.

The only fantasy is you thinking the Tories have a chance in Hastings next time. Is there any danger of you going away now and trolling someone else?

No one really knows when an election will be called and what effect Brexit may have on the electorate, with many other issues that get debated prior to an election. It is total nonsense to say, as you did, that EVERYONE thinks Labour will win, as that is clearly not the case. As to your final sentence -this is what you wrote before, and I had to remind you that a forum exists for everyone's views, yours included, even if you do come over, quite frankly, again as a rather spoilt brat who cannot handle others' opinions.

I can handle opinions if they're sensible and informed - yours aren't, you're just trolling.

Austerity, Universal Credit, inflation, if Brexit has an effect it will be a negative one, an NHS at crisis point, low wages - if you want to go along with a fantasy that The Tories can win in Hastings & Rye now, or in 5 years time with the shifting demographic moved even further - fine but you've come over as quite frankly, again rather clueless and naive.

This is just typical you, though not quite the bile we have seen before. How do you know Brexit will be negative? I don't know either way and nor do you. If only you would just read what is written and think first before resorting to insults, then that too would be helpful. The fact that so many issues affect an election result, which might in any case not take place for several years, means that it is far too soon to speak with such certainty that anyone could win. I have not stated that the Tories would win, just that the issue is far from decided, and the fact that you do not contest my point that "everyone" says labour will win, demonstrates that. Sit back, my friend, read properly what others write, get away from extreme statements and insults, and be prepared to take into account what others say, rather than just coming up with childish nonsense about trolling.

That may or may not have been the case. A leader with a shred of humanity might just take the view that there is no point in kicking someone when they are down.

A shred of humanity would surely be applied to the length of sentence someone unreasonably spends in an Iranian prison?

Using the phrase 'a shred of humanity' applied to the case of Priti Patel is frankly hilarious, and if said by anyone else I might have mistaken it for satire.
