Films EVERYONE has seen but you haven't

I was catching up with last night's Jonathan Ross on good old iPlayer earlier, to see Christopher Walken seem disappointingly uncharismatic whilst being interviewed by @wossy WHEN they started going on about the Deer Hunter, a film I know the name of but have NEVER seen and nor do I have any real idea as to what it's about.

This probably makes me sound like a total philistine, or it may well be that I'm not alone.

Anyway, it is now my mission to get hold of a copy tonight and watch it immediately BUT I want to know what films have you never seen (and possibly never even thought about their content) that "everyone else" has seen?

I've never really been much of a movie buff but there are clearly some films that supposedly everyone should see. Which are you missing, and why?

All the Star Wars.

Why? Sci-fi in general doesn't interest me.

american pie.
all of the james bonds.

Now THAT is something.

Never particularly fussed by American Pie and other American college humour flicks BUT I have watched EVERY Bond to date in one of the few film franchises I am fully au fait with.

I did see all the original Star Wars, and many times too, but I think I've seen The Phantom Menace just the one and have never even bothered with the other two. I'm fickle like that I guess.

Anyone else never seen Ghost?

This was made startlingly obvious to me when Swayze died and jokes kept doing the rounds that I didn't quite get

The Lord of the Rings movies. Have tried to get into them but fallen asleep 3 times trying to watch the first one. They do absolutely nothing for me.

Shawshank Redemption and the LOTR trilogy for me.

So many, so many.

The obvious ones are the Lords of the Rings trilogy and the Harry Potters. Titanic (actually I've watched about 20 minutes of it, around about 2/3rds of the way through). Most of the Spielbergs (because the ones I have watched have been shit).

Withnail & I - didn't do university so didn't go through this 'ritual'

Shawshank, Saving Private Ryan, Schinlders List, etc - can't stand the thought of watching such depressing stuff as I look at the cinema as entertainment. If I want to be depressed while watching something I head for Withdean.

any Harry Potter film, any LOTR film - not interested in all that fantasy stuff.
