Gangs of New York is good and the scenes of old New York pretty scary. Spolit by a predictable and crap ending.

Couldnt get into Amelie at all, was trying to watch it the day after an all night clubbing session and there just wasnt enough going on to stop me nodding off.

Watched the Wicker man on DVD last week, quality f***ed up film!

Apart from the usual - Godfather, Apocalypse Now etc, must see films are Sexy Beast (Ben Kingsley is utterly convincing as the nastiest gangster of all time), Spinal Tap (wonderful from start to finish) and from the same stable Best In Show.

Amelie is brilliant - but agreed you have to be in the right kind of mood for it....its rather deep and meaningful without being obviously so...

Films that make you think

1. Eraserhead
2. Mulholland Drive
3. Lost Highway

All brilliant

Minority report, AI - quality sci fi.

Saw an all time classic, very underated yesterday, Starman with Jeff Bridges - wonderful.

Stir of Echoes.

Strange Days.

Insomnia, One Hour Photos - shows Williams at his best.

others to follow

City Of The Lost Children "the film I wish I had made" said Terry Gilliam. It's bizarre and demanding, (a bit like Gilliam's 'Brazil' for which the released cut should be avoided in favour of the director's cut) .

Good light entertainment ; Love Potion No. 9

Epic stuff; Out Of Africa

Tearjerking, compelling and nostalgia-evoking; Somewhere In Time (stars Christopher Reeves)

The Stunt Man was rather good, with Peter O'Toole - excellent camera-work .
