5.3 With the sole exception of vertically or horizontally striped and chequered
shirts using two Colours equally in a non-predominant manner
, in the event
that three or four Colours are used on the surface of a Playing Equipment
item, one of the Colours used must be clearly predominant and the remaining
Colours on the same Playing Equipment item must be clearly minor. The
predominant Colour must be visible to the same extent on the back and front
of the Playing Equipment item. In the event of vertically or horizontally striped
or chequered shirts using two Colours equally in a non-predominant manner,
the third or fourth Colour on the surface of the shirt shall be used in a manner
not affecting the predominant visual impression of the two Colours used as
stripes and chequers and one of these two Colours must be predominant on
shorts or socks.

What will Argentina do?

Not to mention the Croats, should they beat Iceland to qualify

They'll both be fine - both excepted under the ruling above.

What it might mean however, is that Argentina's shorts would have to be white or light blue, rather than the usual black.

How are FIFA making clubs do this? I dont get it.

Basically they are saying that teams should have one light coloured kit, and one dark coloured kit. It seems that kit manufacturers are interpreting this as a requirement that light shirts and dark shorts are not allowable.

I wonder what the odds are of England having an all-white first kit, and all red alternate kit?

By the way, Argentina have gone for white shorts:

Although Scotland are not in the World cup, they have also gone for a kit that is all one colour:

It says 'leaked' so I don't know if this is correct, but this is the away...

Looks to me that Nike have interpreted the rules differently to Adidas:

Yes but don't be surprised if you see France with blue shorts and Brazil with blue shorts and blue socks or white shorts and white socks in some games...

Any idea when we see our new kits for the WC? New Home AND Away is it?

Luckily, for the players it isn't.

Hmm, it may look better when Nike come out with all their publicity shots - shirts never look that good if the first images are dodgy leaked photos.

It just seems that Nike spent all their time designing the lovely Brazil kits (3 of them!), the Dutch kits (also gorgeous) and the sleek French kit, and forgot the England shirt. I have nothing against plain white - the Umbro kit from the last World Cup was my favourite England kit of all time. It was classic and smart. But the picture above just looks, um, boring.

I hope the away shirt is better. Not that the current away shirt needs replacing - by my reconing it has only been used twice!

I hope you are right about the players - we have a very hard group to escape...

Nike will be issuing all of their international teams a broadly similar goalkeeper shirt, as they have also done at previous World Cups. Here are Brazil's and France's, which will give you a good idea of what the England one will look like:
