My mates play for Brackley. My mates are decent at football but the one I played golf with on Friday took a day off from his job at JLR.

This competition is stupid until knock outs.

Fair play to Auckland, they kept the score to 0-0 until the 6th minute, and stopped Harry scoring.

So a double plus for them. Now they just need to believe in the process and they will be much improved for their game against Benfica

The strange thing is that Auckland City FC are not even the best team in New Zealand (by a country mile!).

Auckland FC currently sit top of the Australia A-League and would hammer Auckland City FC themselves. They'd probably only lose about 7-0 to Bayern.

injuries and fatguie for the beginning of the league

such a poor thought-out competition - will it alwys be Chels & ManC until a PL team wins the CL ? - so

Salzburg haven’t been the best team in Austria for the past two seasons, so their participation is silly. Assuming they don’t qualify out of the group stages, they will have a gap of less than one month before CL qualifiers. We had as many top players out with injury as Brighton last season, really don’t need this club World Cup event.

Yeah. It is basically a month between the final and first weekend of premier league season. This isn’t like where a team has a handful of players come back from the World Cup late so have a couple of extra weeks to get back into it, it is the whole squad.

I can’t help but think it might be good to play Chelsea and city early in the league. Surely they will be a weird mix of done in and not yet ready for the season.

Is anyone actually watching? I’m intrigued. I have zero interest in this and have a feeling that even the fans of participating clubs aren’t interested either.
There was some Chelsea fan (from Wales obv) on TS earlier who was entirely meh about it.
As per the poster earlier, I think Chelsea or City away in the first couple of games wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

No, but as the teams must be informed years in advance it is a selected few. Liverpool and Arsenal will be in 4 years time, although Man City will bring in bigger viewing figures.

I still reckon their first two games will be postponed.

I was excited about a few games, see post #36. But after the 1billionUS$ from Saudi land along with that 10:0 game even I'm out.
I may drop in on this game Fluminense (Brazil) v Broussia Dortmund (Tuesday 17th 17:00) '5' if I can drag myself away from Bradley Walsh on ITV.

This is on a par with the group stages in the womens world cup = pointless and actually a bit damaging.

I will not watch a minute of this manufactured nonsense, I hope millions of others do the same.
That is a bit unfair as at least the Women's World Cup teams all qualify for their finals through a competitive process and do not just turn up for a FIFA money grabbing exercise. The two Group stage matches that I went to at The Amex were entertaining and did not resemble a pre season training game like yesterday's match.
