Bit of a cop-out this weekend I'm afraid...

anyway .. .this is what should appear on the site sometime soon

Only one week into the season and the first really difficult betting heat has arrived.

Given the contrast in form between the Albion's overall performances in the two matches so far, it is difficult to take an outright view on the game., particularly when you also take Crewe's flying start into account.

The Seagulls, being at home, are favoured (11/10) while the visitors are priced up at a keen 21/10. This leaves the draw at 9/4, but despite this being a highly probable outcome, this is a tad short.

Instead the main bet has to be in the goalscorer category and, for the time being, remaining with Dean Hammond. He is 12/1 to net first or last and this still represents value. He scored the Albion's goal on Saturday, and came close to pulling one back in the second half against Reading.

The only other piece of value within the game is the half-time draw, priced up at a short, but appealing 11/10. Not one for the pocket-money punters but if you are the sort who likes the occasional 'pony' sized wager or greater, then this could be the bet for you this weekend.

Away from the Albion we'll nominate a £20 double. Everton are 21/10 to score first against Manchester United at Goodison Park in the live match on Saturday lunchtime. This is too large for a quality premiership side playing at home.

Secondly, we'll back Alfreton Town to beat Vauxhall Motors in the Conference North. The 11/8 on offer would mean that, if successful, the double would return over £125 profit.

Summary

£5 Dean Hammond to score first or last goal @ 12/1
£25 Albion v Crewe - Half-Time Draw @ 11/10

£20 Double : Everton to score first against Manchester United @ 21/10
Alfreton Town to beat Vauxhall Motors @ 11/8

Thanks, Ferret.

I noticed that Butters was almost on the end of a late cross on Tuesday night. In fact he's usually there or thereabouts for the setpieces late in the game. Still at 25/1 for the last goal, that's where my money's going (again).
