I'm surprised to see The Montague on the list, I thought it had closed ?..

Of the list, The Hairy Mound is the best.... oh If I could have my time again I'd have The Thieves Kitchen back as well as The Old England.... I'm just old enough to have drank in The Spaniard too. I'm afraid most "pubs" are bottle bars for kids these days, no decent beer, no roaring fires, no rucks and no decent burger bars or chippies left for a good scoff that you can keep down after a few bevvies...

"Opposite West Worthing crossings. Another pub mother worked in during its better days. She finished up at the George having worked for Charringtons and Kemp Town for over 60 years."
Quoted by Bens Grandad.

Was your mother's name Flossie?

Yes that was her name and still is, although more often referred to as Floss.
