Yeah true but CFL is still a bit VILLAGE though isn't it, eh.

Well, Having seen a few CFL games it's a quicker game and there's more passing as they only play three downs instead of the four played below the border.

Not to mention there's no offside rule (Aussie Rules supporters aren't bright enough to understand it) and the players still wear short tight clothes from the 1970s (just to show that it's a bogan sport).

As appose to who "who can take the most streroids and run into each other, then oops just pop the ball between our legs and do the same again"

sorry "Rugby league"

As oppose to "get the ball, kick it out of play and get applause from a crowd largely made up of people named Nigel or Nathan"

Sorry "Rugby Union" or "The world's most POINTLESS game"

Rugby Leage for me. The wife originates from Bradford and they are all massive fans and they got me into it.

Anyone that has never watched rugby league from the terraces are welcome to join me when The Bulls play at London Broncos.

You never know you may enjoy it.

Sunday 1st May 1.05 Kick off at Brentford F.C

To be honest, I couldn't give a stuff who wins. Although I'd rather it wasn't England; the most insufferable of RU sides. But from what I hear, it won't be them!

Rugby Union for me, don't have much time for any of the others. Never liked Rugby League, if any game could be called village then surely that is it, with few exceptions it is only played in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria. Always thought the 6 pass rule was a bit stupid, granted it makes the team try to score before they have to give the ball away. Could you imagine if that rule were applied to Football, the great footballing sides like Brazil, Holland and Leeds (70's version) who were famous for passing the ball around and keeping it for months would never have existed.

Never really thought of Australia, South Africa and New Zealand as villages.

The thing is that Rugby Union isn't exactly popular in Sussex either, for us it is either Football or Cricket. At school I remember playing stoolball, that game I believe isn't played anwhere outside the Weald, bizarre or what?

The passing and movement in RL is far superior to that of RU, after all RL is about scoring tries whereas RU seems mostly to be about kicking.

Is there another sport in the world where the kicking the ball out of play (and halting the game ) is so important as it is in RU?

Quite a few years back there were 2 games played between RL and RU, one in each code. In the RL code the RL team naturally stuffed them; the RU boys couldn't handle the pace, power and skill. In the RU code the RU lads won - BUT only narrowly and without scoring tries. It was all about kicking, scrummaging and rucking It was the direst game I have seen.

So - if you want to see a passing, flowing game for God's sake watch RL.

I've just been trying to remember my schooldays and have remembered that we used to play mini rugby at Mile Oak and it was leage rules (i think). I certainley remember we used to do the kick back (play the ball they call it now).

Was about to write a reply to that comment but you've summed it up nicely.

I think your comment on the CFL is a tad harsh. The league is doing quite well at present and looking to expand.

What he said!

Canadian Football is actually a very entertaining game

A bit harsh, that. Both teams won in their own codes easily, although easier for Wigan:

Wigan 82 6 Bath
Bath 44 19 Wigan

And bear in mind that the Bath team were AMATEUR at the time. However Wigan went on to win the Twickenham sevens in the following summer tournament so I think it is fair comment to say the ball handling and fitness was at a higher level in RL at the time.

Even now, it is often said that the RL Kangaroos are probably the best side from either code in the world at the moment and you would struggle to argue with that, given the way they took apart the GB side at Elland Road a few months back.
