Didn't the 3A terminate at the top of Amberley Drive/Poynings Drive?

I am sure it used to go down Nevill Road then Nevill Way,
Goldstone Crescent and onto Hove Station?

I used to take the young mrs dave the gaffer to be, home on the 27A to Lower Bevendean...all the chavs got off at the bottom of the Avenue and dissapeared into Moulescomb whereas we carried on up the Avenue to the school.

I seem to recall the 27A was a blue bus?

Why did the last bus to Rottingdean leave at 11.00 from North Street which was the 14a, when the 2a used to go at 11.40 but used to terminate at Cowley Drive shops woodingdean!

I have lost count the number of times I had to walk down that Falmer Road to Rottindean

Was the 14A a "Southdown" bus and the 2A a "Brighton Hove & District" bus, albeit a green one with the words "Southdown" on the side?

Nationalisation never quite got rid of the differences.

17 Sea Front Service was one of the best.

Then there was also the Southdown Route 17 which I used to catch every morning in the mid 1950s from The Bull at Shermanbury to school which was in the Preston area of Brighton.

Also number 36 from Pool Valley through Burgess Hill to Haywards Heath and then on through Horsted Keynes and West Hoathly to East Grinstead.

And number 87 from East Grinstead to Kingscote, West Hoathly and then terminated at a crossroads in the middle of nowhere in Ashdown Forest.

And maybe the best of all ... any of the Brighton trolleybus services.

I could go on .....

No the 14a was a Brighton and Hove bus as was the 2a, it went from Peacehaven along the A259 onto the Clock Tower.

It would be interesting to know what is the longest serving bus route in Brighton.

The 2/2a must be up there, as I remember that route when it was a Southdown bus in the mid 70's and we used to ask the driver for any spare ticket rolls!!

I am sure it used to cost just 2p to get to Rottingdean from Woodingdean!!
