Nothing beats the sheer majesty of the 26 going up Ditchling Road.

Seconded. There was also the 50, but that was a poor imitation of the 26 and I think it turned off somewhere quite low down the road.

What about the old Southdown open top buses that ran along the seafront and up to the Dyke? Do they still run in the summer?

I remember my sunglasses blowing off my head outside the Grand Hotel one day on a trip out and when I cam back 2 hours later amazingly they were still in the gutter.

Obviously crap sunglasses!

That is the Ale Trail Bus.

Also gets us from Barnham Station to Yapton Village Hall for the Yapton Beer Festival.

These days, the 50 and the 50A turn off down Upper Hollingdean Road into Hollingdean. Don't if that was the case back in the day.

Anyone know the history of the 56? Respect to it nowadays because it stops right outside my house. :clap2:

Sorry Uncle Buck, but you are wrong.

The bus in the picture is a one-man operated bus. The bus for the ale trail & Yapton beer festival was built before one-man operations came in - ie they still had conductors.

I'll get my anorak:lolol:
