I must admit to having nothing against fat people, apart from in the following ftwo circumstances:

1) When they sit next to you and take half you seat at a football stadium, on the train, etc.

2) When they moan about they fact they are fat, whilst eating unhealthy food (especially in the gastric band documentaries on the tellybox).

The rest of the time, they are fine by me.

Plus the fact that us tax payers end up PAYING for their fat lifestyles in the form of heart surgery, gastric bands and untold other complications. At least smokers partly pay their way in the form of taxes.

Smokers pay for themselves six times over in tobacco duty, VAT on tobacco, and reduced lifespan. Fatties are just in the way more often, although they are much harder to kidnap!:lolol:

Whenever I go to the footie, it seems to me that there's one helluva lot of Albion supporters (like the population in general) who are carrying an excess of the ol' poundage. Thus, it does make me wonder about the plethora of self-styled 'fattie haters' on here. Maybe they're too busy working-out & speaking on their Blackbury's to their team of personal dietitians to bother with this live footie malarky - what with it's boozy pre/post match excesses; fast-food sustenance & local comradery nonsence? Hey, & maybe they just need to be hateful in an hilarious, de-humanising stylee about others: in a bid to make themselves feel better about themselves? Who knows, quite frankly, but I have a funny feeling that a good proportion will have a rather different view of the subject in question, once them years have relentlessly rolled by & they come to realise that being young; invincible; & naturally slender have been left behind with the naivety of yoot. Maybe see you up at Falmer then, then, innit.

Maybe you're not such a Twinkle Toes after all....

Sorry, I forgot to put the :fishing: at the end.

ps In all honesty, if I stopped my lager consumption I'd get rid of the few excess pounds that I'm carrying - but where's the fun in that?? Vodka & soda: at those prices?! I think not.

Fat people are amusing but also a drain disproportionately on the NHS. Yes they should be roundly booed whenever spotted.

Interesting debate on Radio 5 today about fatties getting treatment on the NHS and whether fatties, smokers and drinkers should receive treatment as they have self inflicted ailments.

Smokers and drinkers can legitimately argue that they more than pay their way in taxes, and also that by dying early they loose their pension payouts etc. Even the fatties could make a limited claim on the additional VAT they would pay on food.

Anyway self inflcited ailments, surely these would also include all amatuer sporting related injuries, some forms of skin cancer and even AIDS.

Surely unless you got your AIDS through a blood transfusion or congentitally it is likely to have been self inflicted. Don't die of ignorance as we were told in the 80's.

I wonder if this will catch on.

The local news has just done a report about a woman who was attacked on a train for not other reason that she is very fat, and who is now proposing that discrimination against fat people should be treated in the same way from a legal standpoint as racism, sexism or homophobia.

Thoughts?

atkins diet??

Having had to sit hunched like a cripple next to numerous fatsos on trains, planes and other public seating I heartily support segregation for those over a certain poundage to basically stop them larding all over me with their pudgy arms and BO.

I am surprised no-one has pointed out, so far, in the "Fat is a medical issue" debate.

No lardys came out of Auschwitz or Belsen so controlled calorie intake obviously does work...even if you have funny glands, a slow metabolism or big bones..which, incidentally is code for "I eat too much shitty food".

GO ON A f***ing DIET.

At least it would be of some benefit to them..except the gas chamber bit of course.

A bit of jogging with the SS "encouraging" them assisted by some Alsatians, then back to the hut for a slap up feast of potato peel and black bread.

Then we'd see how many of them have a hormone imbalance or whatever.

I assume anyone here who gets annoyed (perhaps rightfully) by space issues when sitting next to fatties, has never smoked a cigarette in their life in front of someone who doesn't smoke?

Because obviously then you would be a massive hypocrite.

About a year ago in New York they tried something new. They told retailers to put the calorie content on all the unpackaged items like donuts, muffins, cookies etc sold in delis and coffee shops and said they’d fine any shop which didn’t comply. Didn’t make the slightest difference to the porkers – half of them can’t read and the other half don’t care.

I've often thought that. The more the government increases the tax on booze and fags the more 'valuable' the consumers of those products become, and they can rightly claim that their NHS treatment is paid for by their increased tax contributions. Plus the fact that as they will probably die young they can also say that their unclaimed state pension payments (compared to the amount a longer-lived non-drinking, non-smoker might claim) can also be considered part of their treatment fund. Fatties can make a simlar claim for the extra VAT they've paid, and of course they'll have a better case If the government brings in an 'Obesity Tax' on fodd it considers to be 'unhealthy'.

In fact the REAL villians are the wankers in the 'healthy eating' lobby who don't pay any extra tax, claim loads in pension payments - and STILL bleed the NHS white when they finally need treatment for whatever it is that WILL eventually kill them.

Hear Hear.

Half of adult smokers will never claim the old age pension.

Smokers should get a medal considering the crock of shit that pensions are these days.

At one time I worked looking after old people..I mean really old, requiring a lot of care and support...hardly any of them were smokers or heavy drinkers..funny that.
