The following statement was issued this morning (Wednesday) by Farnborough Town club secretary Vince Williams:

"Farnborough Town Chairman Tony Theo, staff, voluntary workers and supporters remain locked in at Farnborough Town’s Cherrywood Road ground.

Persons have been camped in at the ground since Monday as a protest against alleged new owners taking control of the club. The club are delighted that the 100% support for Tony Theo remains.

The dramatic actions started when Ron Higgins and Tony Turberville claimed they had taken the majority share holding in the club from former Chairman Vic Searle.

Whilst the club continues to try and operate the team are preparing for Saturday’s Nationwide Conference opening fixture away at Hereford United, meanwhile there are clear indications that club workers will stage a mass walk out and supporters will demonstrate on mass against an alleged take over that is not needed, not wanted and not welcome.

A period of stability has been thrown into jeopardy, at the same time, never in the club’s history has there been such universal support on one issue."

There is an online petition to sign here http://www.gopetition.com/online/4861.html , it would be nice if we could help them in some way.

Do we know what the problem is with the "new" owners?

Presumably they have some sort of history to make everyone react like this, but it would be good to know before signing petitions and the like.

THE future of Farnborough Town Football Club is in doubt after new chairman Tony Theo was told at the weekend he would be ousted.

Theo believed former chairman and manager Vic Searle would pass his shares and subsequent ownership to him by the start of the season but Searle has sold his controlling interest on to two businessmen instead.

Theo believes he has a legally binding agreement with Searle.

If the transfer is declared valid it would leave the club in crisis, with two unwanted owners who have no interest in the club, and a major exodus of staff and players just a week before the start of the season.

Still not convinced. How do they know these 2 have "no interest in the club". They have a controlling interest by the sounds of it!

Have the 2 said anything about their plans? Could be an over-reaction? ???
