Anyone remember the "service" in the bar at the back of the north stand. People moan at Withdean catering but f*** me it was SHOCKING in the North stand. No chance of getting served before the team came out for the second half, half cooked rat burgers at about £3 a pop (a fortune 15-20 years ago). It was f***ing horrible.

This is the second time I've heard talk of a bar in the north stand. I don't remember there being any alcohol at the goldstone, could someone enlighten me? (I was only 14)

Yep there was but the best one was at the side of the West Stand. It used to sometimes stay open during the game so you could continue drinking. That all ended when we played Birmingham and the Brum fans broke in during the game and a near-riot broke out. After that there was no more bar.

The "bar" was on the left when you walked down the centre steps behind the stand to the toilet block , one queue for beer and the other for burgers , wagon wheels , mars bars and crisps.

I had taken my in-laws to their first match that day,.. went 'family' in the south stand seats,... there were 4 albion idiots right in front of us giving it large to about 50 Brummies in the South,... they then kicked off and got thrown out,... they walked behind the west and stormed in from the street,....... my mother in law never foirgave me.....

The brums came into the north west, they didnt realise a small group of lads stood in that spot by the bar, recall brums trying to open emonia bottles before they got lamped, they got run out and chased by a brighton fan whacking the last one on the head with a broom,as he went through the gate he found himself infront of ten or so police just looking on:facepalm:

I really can't see the new North Stand being very noisy all the time.
The old North Stand was noisy on occasion but that was the exception rather than the rule. The way football has changed since then won't help the vociferousness of the new stand at all either. I'd love to be proved wrong and this post to be bounced in years to come but I really can't see it. I'll continue to enjoy the atmosphere at away games in the mean time.

could do with a under 16 section within the singing section of about 200 seats let the youngsters get involved with the atmosphere:thumbsup: if the club dont stiffle the new north section it could take off:clap2:
