I lived within a mile of the McAlpine stadium in Huddersfield and knew the back roads to avoid the traffic if I needed to go out.

But then again I am a football fan and if there had been any excess traffic, noise people etc it wouldn't have worried me at all.

I know someone who opposes Falmer, although doesn't live there has friends that do. He has to be one of the most ignorant and arrogant people I have to speak too. I've tried so many times to re-educate him about the issue, he continually talks about the hooligan element that will be inflicted upon Falmer, the noise that will be created (his company had a box up at Carrow Rd, and he found the noise awful ironically he was an architect) and that countryside will be ruined around the village. He'll never change his opinion about Falmer.

And that is the main problem we are faced with regarding the NIMBYs and their hangers-on; they all think that EVERY football fan is a thug and that we'll invade their poxy village whenever we have a game. They also believe their own hype about noise and light pollution...doesn't matter that the Uni is probably the biggest light polluter in the county-and that's been like it for donkeys' years!

These people are living in the past FFS:angry: "200 of us don't give a f***ing rat's arse about the 61,000+ who want the stadium at Falmer. It doesn't matter that we won't even know it's there other than when we drive by it".

Blue-rinse Little Englanders-they make me so angry with their lies and hysteria.

Perhaps we should re-name the stadium "The East Brighton Community Stadium" or something similar so that the un-informed or ill-informed finally get the message that it is in Brighton-not in the poxy village of Falmer.

That's part of the reason I signed the petition in favour of Guildford's new Stadium, to annoy the residents the other side of Stoke Park from the Speccie. Hope you've signed in favour of this too, Bwian?

Sport is a binding part of any community. Civic pride needs to be backed up by good civic facilities.
