With thousands of Albion fans outside the Brighton centre at the end of the march on conference, John Prescott will appear on a balcony of the Grand Hotel, and will announce a YES decision. Queue marvellous scenes of delirium on Brighton seafront. Just a shame I won't be there to witness it.

I reckon the "YES" will be announced during the Labour conference - what better time & place to do it?

A rumour I kept hearing yesterday was that if we had not heard by end of Labour party conference then it would be no. I understand why people would think this but is there any real truth in this or is responding to a public enquiry completely seperate from political considerations?

There won't be an announcement.
The decision is posted to the interested parties. It is nothing to do with the Labour Party as such.

If the decision even LOOKS like it's been made for party political reasons and not on strict planning grounds, the opposition will be rushing hot foot to the High Court, asking for a judicial review.

Prescott is not stupid. He will avoid that at all costs.

So far as the Government are concerned, Falmer Stadium is not high on their list of things to be bothered about - one way or another!
