I believe the public inquiry resumes today to finalise the arrangements made with Brighton University. Not sure how long that will take (a few days?)

Then the inspector will make his decision and hand it over to John Prescott.

I am led to believe this session is expected to last up to two weeks, and the decision could then be any time but likely to be December, even January.

I heard the same regarding 2 weeks but final decision before the end of the year. If I'm in the Alps when the decision is made then its gonna make or break a good holiday!

The University of Brighton have always supported the stadium proposals and confirmed their support at the Inquiry. However the negotiations to sort out the fine details of the lease were protracted and we were unable to complete them before the end of the second session of the Inquiry in June.

As a result the Inquiry will resume for a final session in October. We have now made significant progress with the University. The access arrangements have been agreed and an additional planning application has been submitted to Lewes District Council to cover the amendments to our original proposals.

The Secretary of State has called this new application in to determine it himself so it will be considered when the Inquiry resumes in October. We have also made great progress on the other legal agreements with the University, and are on track to have all of these finalised by the time the Inquiry opens on 14th October.

This will remove the final hurdle and is good news for the Club. Providing all goes well in October the Inquiry will close by the end of the month and we expect that the Inspector will submit his report to the Secretary of State shortly afterwards.

We should know the outcome by the end of the year.

I thought that I heard/read somewhere that the enquiry was initially booked for 2 weeks to cover a number of points-including some of the concerns of UniB'ton.. However, if some of the issues had been resolved then the enquiry might only need 4 days and the issues have been dealt with?

LB-any truth in any of this?

Martin Perry said that they have booked 2 weeks (starting today). It may take the whole time, it may not. It all depends how it goes. The decision from Mr Prescott (and what a thoroughly bloody nice bloke he is) will come either at the end of this year or the beginning of next.
