How old are you Goldstone?

Old enough ... but maybe not old enough to understand the ins and outs of stadium construction.

GPSs, models, compasses, protractors ... all sounds plausible, but still a complete mystery to someone without a practical brain.

They have one of those handy assembly instruction diagrams just like you get when you buy a wardrobe from IKEA.

I really hope not - after all the stress of deciding which is "Part a" and which is "Part B" etc, it'll come with turnstiles that don't fit, a wonky roof, and will fall apart within 3 years!!

Can't believe the feelings and memories this picture brought back. Great model.

Every part has a number, there is a giant plan of the entire stadium, and there are little plans of each section, with a list of what goes in first, second third.

The site office has an even gianter list of each section and dates on when each piece will be arriving, they have to manage their section heads to ensure the last bits have gone in correctly and they are on time to accept the next bits..

In short its all about reading maps, that why you never see female construction workers ;) except in Carlsberg ads

The building of anything that size cannot go to plan without YEARS of prior planning, in effect the building should take less time than the planning...

The clever clogs are the engineers, getting down on paper what the designers want is a nightmare....lest alone making sure it is buildable...

Where was that made LB? Presumably the class teacher is a Brighton fan, but still must have had a struggle to convince them not to make a model of Old Trafford!

Woodingdean Primary School.

... that's Woodingdean, the community that was allegedly "totally opposed" to Falmer being selected as the site.

That model is totally unconvincing. Half the fans have their hands up as though we scored.

You do the stuff next to the Happy Swedish Guy.
You don't do the stuff next to the Sad Swedish Guy.

And bob's your uncle.

All sections are on giant hoverboards so they can be moved easily when the bits don't join.
